Wine and turkey…. Log and Puddings… Warmth from the fire.. Laughter…. Sure looks good from out here….
I tighten my tattered coat...and wonder Where would I fit the Christmas Tree…? In this cardboard box… I call my Home

About this poem:
I has posted this poem on the site, at this time 3 years ago... It has since been archived, so I thought about starting a new thread..... (with a little adjustment to the poem)..
Blessings, Greetings and good Health to Everyone...
Great poem about a very real problem.. homelessness.. I actually have known people to whom a refrigerator box.. was HOME.. and they were the lucky ones..
Thank You all for your very encouraging comments. I have just *visited* the poetry section and was pleasantly surprised: I had forgotten writing this at all. Hope you're all keeping well!
Thank You fjames.... glad you enjoyed. All the best for You and Yours.. Twin

Very good concept you've penned here. ''Sure looks good from out here'' is a longing that many had to experience during the celebrations of Christmas but never having the means to do so. I'm a first time reader of your poems so I would warmly welcome you to the corner Twinself.
It is also my favourite line. When I wrote it, I had a mental picture of myself, as a homeless person, standing outside in the bitter cold, looking through the window of a warm dining room, whilst a family was enjoying its Christmas gathering.
Thank you all, for the warm welcome. I don't consider myself a poet, but I feel at home here, sharing some of my thoughts and feelings about the world, and the human psyche... I feel warm good-hearted people posting here... no arguments, no picking on people, no gender bashing etc... I like the atmosphere.
I found this browsing the site and felt it was worthy of a slot on the top shelf. Powerful poem highlighting poverty and loneliness in a world of plenty. Regards Mick.
Twin a very thoughtful poem. Like a tribute to those that are mostly unnoticed. Has anybody gone out without a coat under -20 degrees?.... Can you imagine having a cardboard box as a roof? It's your whole world. SM

I guess indeed, it's about humbleness..not taking things for granted...and counting our blessings and not our lack.
Hope you enjoyed New Year's day, and may the rest of it bring you health, love and serenity, in no particular order...
