Obese

They say fat a**, They call me round
They say I block the sun
They say I eat more than my share
I'm far too big to run

They say that I could kill a man
By sitting on his lap
That I look like an elephant
My body fills a map

They say the scales I use will break
And chairs will all go crash.
I jump into a swimming pool
And get the biggest splash

They say they won't make clothes my size
Unless a tent they use
A full cow worth of leather
Just to make a pair of shoes

They do not say how good I am
They don't see how I care
They don't see what they do can cause
I don't think they're aware

They don't see the depression
The anxiety or pain
The tears we have to try hold back
Some people go insane.

They don't see that we stay inside
Afraid to leave the room
They don't see what the future holds
The misery and gloom.

They don't see dying all alone
In coffins that are big
And buried in the massive holes
machines were hired to dig.

If someone has never been there ~ they could not possibly understand the real pain that your words expressed.

I used to be morbidly obese. Twice in my life ( I am old now...lol) I lost in excess of 150 pounds. Both times I was above 300 pounds when I started.

I am still not close to thin, but sort of within the realm of 'large normal'.

The few people that saw 'ME" for "ME" when I was over 300 pounds ~ will always remain my dearest and truest friends.

If someone is not willing to look INSIDE OF ANOTHER HUMAN BEING ~ I DON'T FEEL THEY ARE WORTHY OF ANYTHING..

Good luck....Mady teddybear

This whole weight loss fad has been going on since the early 80's. I remember the song Physical by Olivia Newton John back in 1980 and how I felt this whole thing with diets and exercise was just a ploy to steal not only people's money, but also their self worth.

You are both correct, certainly really excess poundage, is a medical issue (talk to your doctor/dietician) however, naturally larger people should not be made to feel guilty by others/society at large. Don't forget the weight loss industry is big bucks, and along with advertising etc works to get those big bucks, to at least some extent, by making people feel guilty. Some people are naturally larger. Anyway welcome to CS poetry.

I too have had my battle with weight all my life - at my highest I was 216 lbs. on a 5'2" frame - I have since lost 55 lbs. It is a constant struggle - but I found walking 2 miles a day or more helps a lot. Take care - you are not alone in this struggle and I wish people understood.
