Three Chain Road

Billy was a drover
He lived out on the three chain road
Fell in love with Mary and they married
She made his shack a home

He drove them off to Queensland
And it hurt to have to leave her on her own
But she promised shed be waiting
When he brought the cattle home

Theres a lonesome wind blowing down
The three chain road tonight
Its sending out a warning as she blows
Billy dont go riding down
The three chain road tonight
The wind is crying Billy please dont go

Billy came home early
He wasnt due for many days
Walked into the cabin and found his Mary
In a strangers arms she lay

In the blindness of his anger
The fatal shots rang out from Billys gun
In that smoky silence he knew
And he wept for what hed done

Theres a lonesome wind blowing down
The three chain road tonight
Its sending out a warning as she blows
Billy dont go riding down
The three chain road tonight
The wind is crying Billy please dont go

Billy walked out slowly
He knew what must be done
Somewhere in the darkness a shot rang out
Billys time had come

They say his spirits out there
You can feel it every time the cold wind blows
Its warding off the strangers
Who come by the three chain road

Theres a lonesome wind blowing down
The three chain road tonight
Its sending out a warning as she blows
Billy dont go riding down
The three chain road tonight
Theres a lonesome wind blowing down
The three chain road tonight
Its sending out a warning as she blows
Billy dont go riding down
The three chain road tonight
The wind is crying Billy please dont go

Would You Go With Me

Would you go with me if we rolled down streets of fire
Would you hold on to me tighter as the summer sun got higher
If we roll from town to town and never shut it down

Would you go with me if we were lost in fields of clover
Would we walk even closer until the trip was over
And would it be okay if I didn't know the way

If I gave you my hand would you take it
And make me the happiest man in the world
If I told you my heart couldn't beat one more minute without you, girl
Would you accompany me to the edge of the sea
Let me know if you're really a dream
I love you so, so would you go with me

Would you go with me if we rode the clouds together
Could you not look down forever
If you were lighter than a feather
Oh, and if I set you free, would you go with me

If I gave you my hand would you take it
And make me the happiest man in the world
If I told you my heart couldn't beat one more minute without you, girl
Would you accompany me to the edge of the sea
Help me tie up the ends of a dream
I gotta know, would you go with me
I love you so, so would you go with me

Temporary Home

A little boy, six years old
A little too used to being alone
Another new mom and dad
Another school, another house that will never be home
When people ask him how he likes this place
He looks up and says with a smile upon his face

This is my temporary home, it's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passing through
This is just a stop on the way to where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know
This is my temporary home

Young mom, on her own
She needs a little help, got nowhere to go
She's looking for a job, looking for a way out
'Cause a halfway house will never be a home
At night she whispers to her baby girl
"Someday we'll find our place here in this world"

This is our temporary home, it's not where we belong
Windows and rooms that we're passing through
This is just a stop on the way to where we're going
I'm not afraid because I know
This is our temporary home

Old man, hospital bed
The room is filled with people he loves
And he whispers
"Don't cry for me, I'll see you all someday"
He looks up and says
"I can see God's face"

This is my temporary home, it's not where I belong
Windows and rooms that I'm passing through
This was just a stop on the way to where I'm going
I'm not afraid because I know
This was my temporary home

This is our temporary home

Somebodies Daughter

I had a flat tire on a lonely country road
When she came along in her hot pink Olds
She asked if she could do anything for me
All I could do, was drool on my knee

Her hair was long and black and her skin was ivory
When she stood up she was all of six foot three
Her hot burning lips began to speak again
All I could do, was drool down my chin

Her hair was long and black
She had looks that would last
My mind was going slack
She had legs up to her.....

Then I heard my Momma cry!!

"Mind your manners son that's somebodies daughter
Be careful what you say or they will take you away
Mind your manners son that's somebodies daughter
Be careful what you say or they will take you away"

She came right over and stood right next to me
While I kept staring at the scenery
She asked me what the problem with the car could possibly be
All I could do, was drool on my sleeve

She fixed my tire just as easy as can be
While my eyes kept going glazy
As she drove away she turned and waved goodbye
All I could do. was drool on my ........ Tie

Her hair was long and black
She had looks that would last
My mind was going slack
She had legs up to her.....

Then I heard my Momma cry!!

"Mind your manners son that's somebodies daughter
Be careful what you say or they will take you away
Mind your manners son that's somebodies daughter
Be careful what you say or they will take you away"

Not That Kind of Love

Verse I

Thought we would be together and nevermore to part.
I put aside my pride and then I gave to her my heart.
I thought she was my angel, sent down from above.
She said I really love ya baby, but it's not that kind of love.

Chorus

What kind of love could it be?
Where she don't want to see only me?
I never thought I'd be the fool,
Home with a broken heart, wond'rin',
What kind of love could it be.

Verse II

And so I found another, we dated for a while.
This girl had a lot of class and had a lot of style.
She seemed to be the perfect fit that I'd been dreamin' of.
She said I really love ya baby, but it's not that kind of love.

Verse III

So listen to me baby and listen to me well.
I've seen a lot of women, way more than I can tell.
I may seem like the hand, that fits your velvet glove,
And I really love ya baby, but it's not that kind of love.

Final Chorus

What kind of love could it be?
I'd tell ya' girl but you would never see.
Now you don't wanna' be the one,
Home with a broken heart, wond'rin',
What kind of love could it be.

About this poem:
This song came to me this morning as I am preparing to help a friend that has been staying with me & sharing my bed, to move sixty miiles away and on to a new life. The last few women that I've been with have had no romantic interest in me or me for them. Hence this song. I'm really not bitter or giving up, just a mood that struck me and inspired a song... :)

Cross That Bridge

Verse I

The creek runs swift and wide with melt from that last snow,
Gotta get across somehow, there's just one way to go.
This two-lane narrow bridge ain't got no place for me.
If a semi comes along, guess I'll just be history.

Chorus

Oh, the old Iron bridge on Indian Creek ain't got no place to hide,
An' tryin' to get accross on foot is damn near suicide.
Yeah, it's damn near suicide, oh Lord, it's damn near suicide.
Yeah, tryin to get across on foot, is damn near suicide.

Verse II

This ol' bridge was built way back in horse an' buggy days.
When folks would go much slower, haulin' veg'tables an' hay.
It may be twelve feet wide, or fourteen at the most.
If a big-rig wants t' cross right now, I guess I'll just be toast.

Verse III

There's no way to avoid it, there ain't no way around.
Gotta grit my teeth an' set my jaw, get back on solid ground.
The creek is much to shallow, the bridge is way too high.
Gotta choose between two broken legs, an' a good chance that I'll die.

The New MacDonald - song lyric

Verse I:

I'm a space age new-wave farmer, but I'm still an old-fashioned man.
I sell genetically engineered tomaters, out front at my roadside stand.
I don't breed livestock anymore, I'm clonin' pigs and sheep and cows.
I got a PHD in biology, don't know why but I do know how.

Chorus:

Well you can call me the New MacDonald,
We can chat when I'm on line.
And you can reach me vi-a email,
Or you can fax me any time.
Yeah they call me the New MacDonald,
I'm a agri-C.E.O.
You can find my stock on NASDAQ,
Listed E.I.E.I.O.
Yeah I'm the New MacDonald,
Oh Yeah, the New MacDonald.

Verse II:

My John Deere's got cruise control, an' a eight-disk DVD.
A-C, auto, white-walled tires, it's a beautiful sight to see.
I got a global satellite uplink, built into my pick-up truck.
Keep her out in the barn an' ev-ry mornin' jump in an' boot 'er up.

Verse III:

I got a gal, met her on the net, she's the laser of my life.
An' if I play my cards just right, gonna' be the farmer's wife.
She can program a computer', she can bake a cherry pie.
Memorized the Kama Sutra, an' she can make the bed sheets fly.

Verse IV:

Grow mushrooms in my cellar, sell for fifty bucks an ounce.
Take you on a trip most anywhere, don't even have to leave the house.
Got cash crops I don't talk about, 'cause of the DEA.
Makin' money while the sun shines, an son that sure ain't hay.

Nannette - song lyric

I
You're a bad news kinda' girl,
I could read it in your eyes,
And the way you flip your hair,
When you're buildin' alibis.

Chorus
Oh! Oh! Nanette! You went through my life like a breeze.
Oh! Oh! Nanette! Now I'm beggin' ya' please, baby please!
Call me or come by. Just please give me a try.
You knocked upon my door. I was all fogged up'n sore.
You were clearly in distress, but I wasn't at my best.
An' I let you get away. Now I'm cryin' ev-ry day.
Oh! Oh! Nanette! Now I'm beggin' ya' please, baby please!
Oh! Oh! Nanette! Can't ya' see me here on my knees?

II
No I don't care where you been,
Or who you was with last night.
Now baby I just need to know,
That you're gonna' be alright.

III
I don't have no agenda.
Not tryin' to do you in.
No, I'm just another soul,
An' I been where you have been.

About this poem:
Another true story. Nannette knocked on my door and woke me up about 8 am one day & needed me to move my car because hers had no reverse & she was trying to turn around in my driveway. I didn't even offer her a cup of coffee! She said she was just driving around thinking and was living under "desperate circumstances" and I moved my car and let her get away! Clearly not my finest moment... :D

Wastrel Days

At just 13 I hit the open streets
Every stranger was the world I'd meet
My every sorrow in the things they cried
A wastrel wandering through a lullaby

State to state and town to town I'd go
From desert dawn to Colorado snow
Both oceans soothed away my salty aches
Thunder showing me the sound truth makes

Stormy beaches in California
Hurricane warnings in the Florida Keys
Everywhere I went the clouds were forming
And every storm I met was just like me
In my wastrel days

Starlit meadows and an Autumn sky
Lilac breezes as the clouds roll by
Life was the essence of a southern kiss
And a Dixie woman that I sometimes miss

Instrumental in my wastrel days
Were dreams of angels who'd correct my ways
But they never showed I'm uncorrected still
Wild at heart I wander where I will

Stormy beaches in California
Hurricane warnings in the Florida Keys
Everywhere I went the clouds were forming
And every storm I met was just like me
In my wastrel days

Cold Utah morning nineteen-Christmas time
And home is nothing but a dream of mine
I guess it's nothing but a good dream still
That I'd like to find but maybe I never will

Stormy beaches in California
Hurricane warnings in the Florida Keys
Everywhere I went the clouds were forming
And every storm I met was just like me
In my wastrel days

FOR OUR POET FRIEND-PINKPOETRESS

The way to this site, we found just a while
Not planned before and hoped to get
We met here, and wrote something special
Someone is great, but others not much
And we never hesitated to greet them like others,
And we know our PINKy got something bad
It is usual in human life
We sure she is a great poet and with kind hearted
She will write more and more
About life, nature and true love
Many times she gave us tears and smile
We never forget her kind comments and care
We know if we seen a photo of her in the raw
There should be a best poem
We all wish our PINKy to get well soon
And to come back soon
And she will give us a peerless smile
We have ever seen before...
