When it comes to fields like retail and customer service in NY girls have the better chance and its understandable it is a hell of a lot easier for a girl to sell something to a guy than it is the other way around. yes there are some "invisible" obstacles & glass ceilings still in the work place but things continue to evolve and many employers are quite concerned to avoid eeo complaints
I have actually lived in NY and have a lot of family and friends there - it's not much different than anywhere else in the NE - customer service positions are open to men equally however until those types of jobs began paying better - men would not go for them. I am actually glad to see men enter some sectors of the economy because they have made it painfully clear that women were underpaid with their refusal to accept those salaries - the end result being a slow growth in pay for women - tho we still earn about about .75 on the dollar nationally - for the same work - the gap is closing and I thank men for that in large part because their refusal to work for low wages highlighted the need to raise pay in traditionanlly female labor
Rio32186: I'm curious to know. Women fought hard to be able to make just as much or more money than men. But now it seems they get upset when they have more money than the guy they are dating. I was raised to believe the guy should always support the girl, however its the 20th century and from what I've seen the past few years it's easier for a woman to find work than a man.
I personally don't care much when dating .. coz I can take of myself ... I wouldn't mind spending money on my guy if need be ... And vise versa ... I think things change when we enter into marriage where an equal contribution would be great .. JMO

True, but there is much "wooing" to be done before it gets to the marriage state lol. I'm actually suprised I've seen so many people say it doesn't matter, must be the area I live, I don't like this place lol

Oh you have no idea how true that is, sadly much easier said than done in my case =(
personaly i work in construction and the women have flooded the trades in my area and they are just as good or better than some men .It dont matter who makes what it never has for me if my women made more tha i thats cool bring it in work some overtime ill clean the house why not if it make it all better im for it just my tought .

Totally with you on that... women don´t treat men the way we have treat them in the past, when men worked and they stay at home... men gave women all their money and all they had... I do not see that happening in reverse... women are selfish by nature and they love money... so now they earn more money than guy, thanks to society discrimination of men to give advantage to women, now they don´t like to share

As harsh as that sounds I would have to agree, from my experiances I never generalize. Its a shame though I'd be the ideal house husband lol. But yes from what I've seen when the woman makes money it becomes what's your's is mine and what's mine is mine.

I'd rather have my own money than have someone tell me how to behave - then neither I nor the man can be controlling and he will have to treat me well alsoI agree with you in that some men for generations have assumed their "breadwinner" status entitled them to be very controlling and not always in a nice way....ummmm....no

but seriously that is over generalizing things quite a bit - not all women are the same - but where this is the case women must also be very trustworthy
relationships involve agreements between the couple how money is to be handled and it is no one else's business
so obviously if a man has agreed to let his partner handle all or part of his finances he must have his reasons (same for a woman who does so). I doubt anyone would do that if they felt their partner was going to run off on a wild spending spree - so maybe in the cases where you do not see women "sharing" it is because she and her partner do not have the same financial priorities (the pub being one of them)

the reason that hiring is done with eeo in mind is why you are seeing what we used to call "quotas" played out from time to time - not a perfect system, I agree. A job should go to the best applicant regardless of race gender or any other eeo qualifier
some of my gay coworkers have been among the best - I like them because they tend to know what it is like to be gossiped about so they do not engage in that type of backbiting IME

So basically we agree.Except you think it's improving I think otherwise, but that's just a simple case of plato's cave theory. In this case things where you are seem to be improving while where I am things appear to stay the same. Wise you may be, but yoda you are not ;)
Is interesting to know debates about money owner. If we think money, we have to get back to its source, a production company. Today we will find women in leading positions to companies, in decision making. So is clear that plenty money will be in the women hands.

It shouldn't make any difference who earns the most money.
Relationships are based on more than money, or if not then they should be.
a woman can allways make more money than a man she has got a thing between her legs that man cant do without and is will to pay for it
