I'm curious to know. Women fought hard to be able to make just as much or more money than men. But now it seems they get upset when they have more money than the guy they are dating. I was raised to believe the guy should always support the girl, however its the 20th century and from what I've seen the past few years it's easier for a woman to find work than a man.

I am voting neither yes or no. Would it not be better to agree that we are paid our worth, than generalise about which gender should be paid more?

I don't know about that last sentence, it's Women that have been disproportionately hit during this recession/depression - as the areas Women usually work in (consumer/public/service sectors) have been hardest hit... and if we're ever going to recover from this mess it will be down to a growth in manufacturing and manual labour, which women do not usually work in.

Hey I have no problem with who gets paid what, its the women I've met that seem to have the issue lol. They didn't like that they made more money than I did. I should have specified though "Should a guy make more money than a girl, when it comes to dating"

I'm one woman who didn't fight to make more or as much as men.I think the women's lib movement is being abused by those who supposedly vote for it.

Maybe where you are from, but here in NY pretty much the only work you can get is in retail/fast food/customer service, nursing, so on. And most of those jobs are going to the women here

It doesn't matter to me whether he makes more or less money than me as long as he's not a bum leaching off me.

You're not wrong, it's those areas where they are employed. But with the exception of nursing we are, and going to see, those sectors collapse in the Western World. The penny's dropping that we can't afford to borrow more money to pay for them, we've maxed out the credit card and now we're going to have to get real jobs like our Fathers' Fathers used to do.

Agreed. At the same time they are making it harder and harder to get those kind of jobs. If your not getting replaced by a machine than your being replaced by someone the boss knows or by an undocumented person willin to work for peanuts lol

hello there, From experience, i dont feel very confortable if i always earn a lot more than him, most of the times it leaves you with all the decions of what to do, the guy can become unentusiastic, and having to see u paying for all the stuff is probably no blow to their ego, plus the big bill at the end left for the girl is a big no. I Think expliting is necessary but the man has to be the bigger provider, on my opinion. Cheers

Well my last girl made more than me. I told her how much I made the first date, I'm a very honest person, she said she didn't mind. So when we would go out, which she wanted to do often. I'd pay when I could, and when she would buy I would offer to pay for her and not get anything for myself but she insisted and 2 months later she freaked out and said she hates paying. Was I leeching? lol

Nope, you weren't leeching...she seems indecisive.

Thank you lol. She's been calling me a lot latley even though I told her I still make the same as I did before. I don't think she's getting the hint I don't wanna do that again = P

Like I said, she seems indecisive. Can't blame you for not wanting to do it again so stick to your guns and retain your sanity.
question is...........should a guy make more money than a girl???
Not if they are doing the same job!!!!! If we´re talking about who brings the larger wage packet home.........that is a question of ego for the male, cos that´s the indoctrination of our society. Love should actually solve the problem..........but, unfortunately, sometimes it doesn´t.

I am excited for the day when MONEY IS NO LONGER what one lives for ...for Goodness sake....Let's get real people...MONEY, MONEY MONEY, blah blah blah...what ever happened to ...CARING, GIVING, ACCEPTING...JUST BEING. Enough with the money crap...it is sickening and goes hand in hand with greed in our world today, it is ruining everything and everybody. Sorry, I had to vent. Why can't we get past this MONEY OBSESSION?

I will add to that when "status" is also NOT what one lives for...
Well I understand money brings a sense of security. And don't get me wrong I want to be able to by a girl whatever she wants I just wish the fact that I can't do that right now wouldn't be the game ender.
The only bank balance I'm interested in would be my own. I would be most comfortable with someone sharing expenses etc. but how much he ears wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.
I knew a couple when I lived in AZ who split everything down the middle so far they've last 16 years together and still going so maybe there's something to it lol

Both genders should be paid the same if doing the same job same hours,if a person is doing dangerous work they should be paid more and it seems the vast majority of work related deaths are men but we never hear about that.
venusenvy I dont think its a question of "should" its more about does he? In this day and age sometimes women make more than men...No big thang
Wish it was the same for the women I meet lol
lifeisadream It can be easy or difficult for both genders, it depends on your qualifications and the market for your career.
Yes, unfortunately the job market here is slim pickings, many people especially ones who already have a job don't seem to understand.
modermen Both genders should be paid the same if doing the same job same hours,if a person is doing dangerous work they should be paid more and it seems the vast majority of work related deaths are men but we never hear about that.
Well yeah but I was more focusing on the dating sense. Like in a reltionship should the guy make more.

in the US they (women) work in those sectors in large numbers (labor & manufacturing) and it was the decline in the manufacturing sector that hit the hardest here

exactly how I feel
agreed
very few jobs in the US are strictly gender based as that is often and usually illegal
not that all jobs are equally men /women ratio - they are not - not sure they coucld be ??? but men and women applicants have to be considered for any job - pretty much
we have far more male teachers and nurses these days and househusbands as well as many women highway workers, engineers, doctors, lawyers and so on
