I didn't read anything about it, didn't know what it was for and not a parent so i can't really give an opinion or decide what's best for other peoples kids..

you know its weird.....the vast majority of people I have spoken to have said they voted no.
I voted. I do believe though that with everything, its a case of the cart before the horse. There is little point bringing in all these things (including reducing the age OPF age to 7) without the proper backup in place. They need more of the resources to help facilitate and educate families in need before they get to crisis level.

I find it hard to take these votes seriously as they just ask you to vote again if they don't like the result. The result of course is yet another erosion of citizen's rights.
Judging by past history, I can't think of any organisation being in a worse position to be legislating on the well being of children.
mcattack: Yeah i plan on emigrating in the next 6 or 7 months, loads of work in Australia but it's a bit far so i'm still trying to talk myself into going

The Irish need to grow a back bone where referendum are concerned and not be brow beaten in submission by having repeat referendum, if you voted against it the first time, then vote against it the second, third, fourth...how ever many times it takes for the Government to feel suitably humiliated by their failure.
mc, I'll keep this simple for you. You did understand the post marsman made (the post that I misquoted and then fixed within a minute). He said (and I agree) anyone who didn't vote who could have VOTED and then goes and berates any one should hang their head in shame. And they do not have the right to critise anyone.
Phoenix: Where do you plan to have Kids. Within the EU or outside? On day you'll become an uncle, maybe even a god father....It wasn't about you mc. It was about kids. Take the chip of your shoulder, relax and roll yourself a joint.
I have a Godson and i'm an uncle to 16 nieces and nephews...but they're not my kids, i don't decide their future
