I believe that love is something that you can't control - I also believe it can be the most rewarding & the most dangerous of all emotions. Having walked away from love selflessly I want to know what men mean when they say they love you & what women give when they say they love you. It has always puzzled me - it should be the greatest feeling but often ends up in tragedy - so to help me to understand the realms of love please give me your honest opinions. With much gratitude from a true romantic born in love but destined never to find it.
I think that this is how true love should make you feel Lancaster, I hope you don't mind me posting this.....
I want to be imprisoned within the locks of your hair, I want to be forever the reflection in your eyes. I want when you feel happy to be that smile upon your face. And I want, my love, your lips to taste.
I want to be the kisses that dance along your neck, I want to be as a baby, suckling at your breasts. I want to bathe in the sunshine that glows from off your skin. And I want to be the ecstasy you feel from deep within.
I want, when tears may tumble, to be your comforter. I want, when you are fearful, to be your strength and shield. I want my arms to pick you up, if ever you should fall. And I want you to remember this; I love you most of all.

I don't know why you have different questions for men and women but here it goes: I do believe that you can't control who you like, but that doesn't mean you have to be with that person if it's not suitable. Love for me is wanting to share my life with someone (the good and the bad) and enjoying to be with that person.
Love is that condition in which the happiness of another person is essential to your own. It makes you so vulnerable. It opens your chest and it opens up your heart and it means that someone can get inside you and mess you up.
Or a newer version
love is like being set on fire and having your loved one transform into a marshmallow as she runs to embrace you. But not being in love feels so much worse, possibly like being a tax collector...
OkieChic: "whats love got to do with it, it's just a second hand emotion"
And that's the problem, it's an emotion. It's not something that's solid, that you can count on. Love is fickle, undependable and not unconditional (except for children and dogs)
It should be solid but as many of us know, it's not

I disagree. When I love someone it’s forever. It may not be that we can stay together and go the distance but it’s solid as a rock. Sometimes the most loving thing one can do is let go.

I really think that we convince ourselves we are in "love"...it's actually a mindset...we can make ourselves believe anything...our thought control can either bring life or death to a situation.
For example, if you constantly think on only the good...it lives
but if you constantly think of the bad, you will eventually "fall out of love" I promise, I've been in both shoes

No one on the face of this earth knows the profound true feeling of the word 'LOVE' it just comes out of our mouth, and not with profound feeing to it's meaning...not even myself.

Well this would indeed be your opinion. Mine is quite different and that's what makes each of us unique.

Exactly... here today, gone tomorrow...so what a person does, is just try and find someone they get along with and forget all the mushy stuff

This is nothing more than someone wanting to seduce someone...has nothing to do with LOVE

For me profound true love comes firt, and not knowing the true deep down profound feelings to what it's stands for keeps me in wonder. Yes, here 2day gone 2morrow. Well, I don't wanna reveal this to all the scamming woman out there.
There's no words can define "Love" ... It's the feeling beyond words and even you can smell it in the air and you heal it into your hearts... It's magic and need miracle to make it true

For me, and this is hard to explain...so bare with me...
wanting to be with them so much that even if you are holding them as close to you as you can....even if you are being close intimately....it is not enough....I want to be inside him, I want to be him...

Absolutely disagree!
I have profound feeling to love's meaning, refer to previous post!
I will never say I love someone without that profound feeling...
and no I have never fallen out of love, my 1st emigrated to Australia, and still thought and cried over missing him for 25 years.... we tried again, but he had changed so much...
I still miss him and cry over him.. my feelings haven't changed after 28 years....
I cannot see my feelings changing now, he is buried in my heart.
