OkieChic: I haven't dated at all in the yr I've been divorced. I just haven't felt ready until now. So why did you go for 3 yrs? same reason? I'm just trying to make sense of why some people don't date for a long time...thought it was just me
Yes and it worked, but my circumstances aren't like those of most people. First, I married someone from another country and that lasted 17 years. The others didn't work out over personality issues.
I wouldn't recommend it if both are bound by job, mortgage, kids, family, etc. This only works if one is willing and able to relocate. That's the bottom line, really.
OkieChic: Now, of those of you who have, did it work? Why and Why not...should anyone even think of doing such a thing..
Yes, I grew up where the border of 3 countries meet and dated one guy from the other side of the border. I'm now living in another country and was in a relationship for years with a local guy.
Never did long-distance relationship though and never will.

I have dated outside my country since before computers It is not a simple yes or no answer. It works for some some it does not. It really depends on the two individuals. I ended up marrying the guy next door. The one I grew up with. It took a long time for me to realize he was my love. And when I did he could of been from the moon and it would not of mattered He is long gone now and I really don't think I would put a barrier on where one lives if I am lucky enough that lightening hits twice and I find that kind of love again twill not matter where he is from just how to get him to me
