MICKEYMOST: Take it on the chin lady You and I have "clashed" for want of a better word over the Gun Laws ,and I've been misunderstood on many occasions.
I've always stated in these debates it's not our country ,so not for us to say what goes down.
Unfortunately this subject causes people to get hot under the collar where children are concerned. This gets people's backs up ,and then the fights start
Americans have a nasty habit of throwing the Royals into the pot at every opportunity. I say don't knock what you don't understand. It's our country ,our choice.
People are entitled to an opinion, and we as posters need to consider that. It may well differ from our own, but that's no excuse to go bad mouthing that person or indeed their country.j.m.o
See, that's my thoughts exactly...well, I have never threw nasty insults to the Royals....I happen to been a huge fan of "Di", I suppose we could get into a debate what actually happened behind her death....but I won't....I haven't bad mouthed anyone's country, not my place...quite frankly, I've never left the states...but I will uphold my stance on guns...no I won't back down..

You are correct the majority of countries in the forums throw mud at each other and I don't understand why that happens.
A couple years ago I was in the Irish or UK forum...I can't remember which...but I said something incorrectly about England mainly because I didn't know any better.
Somebody corrected me and I apologized deeply and said I don't understand how England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland all fit under the UK.
I THINK it was Glaitol who said she was glad I didn't understand and I should leave it that way. I think it implied to her that I wasn't preoccupied with digging dirt on other countries. Those aren't her exact words.....What she meant was, she was glad that I didn't understand how the countries fit together.
And I still don't understand it and I don't have to. I see posters all the time posting about other countries and I'm amazed how much history they know about other countries. I'm not good at understanding the history of Europe. That being said you'll never see me trash another country because I'm clueless to what's going on with them.
The popular thing right now in the forums is to trash the United States. And I say this.....You can knock me down and stand on my face. But when you kick me into the corner be prepared to see me come out fighting to defend my country.
OkieChic: Have you ever been taken the wrong way, and that person end up not liking you? Please explain....
Very often. Sometimes it's intentional that someone then puts words in one's mouth and other times start playing the victim card. Also the fact that there are a lot of plain stupid people about here adds to the mess.
CapNemo: I don't believe I've ever been misunderstood here. My input is clear and to the point. I don't sugarcoat things and I call it like I see it.
Well you yeller bellied sapsuckin' no good So 'n So! You point your input in my direction and then throw sugar on my coat! I simply don't understand how such misunderstandings can happen.
What language barrier, today you learned, how BLASPHEMY is spelled and what it means.
OkieChic: yah, I have noticed the language barrier for sure.. guess I have all that to learn...I just never mean to hurt, upset anyone...hope I never do
Kaybee50: But you will upset and hurt others, and not intentionally. But for the reasons I stated above. Some are overly sensitive, some will say black when you say white, and then if you agree it's white, they will flip to black. It's the nature of the beast.
felixis99: I agree Monte, and I also like what Kaybee said. With so many personalities a few misunderstandings are inevitable - with or without the occasional language and/or cultural barrier.
I know I have been misunderstood, and I know I have misunderstood others at times! That is one excellent use of the private msg also - to clear those up (in way of a constructive suggestion).
On serious political/religious threads people are not going to agree most of the time. It's important to go into to those understanding that the person is not the opinion. There are members who I share lively banter with in the dating/relationship/ or music threads who I may disagree with in the political forums.....I have also learned sooo much in those forums. So what threads you are in is an important consideration.
Also, lest we forget (and I think we all do at times) there are a wide range of AGES on these threads...so before getting riled up consider the poster's age.....just a thought ..... and I liked Monte's Ellerbee quote......and so it goes.....

Quite often on sites like this one, people ask the wrong question and then do not get the right answer they were looking. Questions or queries have to be asked sensibly, so as to get the answer they wanted in the first place

Quite a lot gets lost in translation, even when the language is the same--i.e. the people of Great Britain and the people of the United States of America both use English; however, the culture is different and not everything said is the same "straight across". (a counter is the top of a lower cabinet-in England it is the kitchen bench. A truck is a "rig"; in England it is a "Lorrie" A biscuit is a scone, a cookie is a biscuit. Ironically, an English Muffin is used in the U.S., in England it is a "crumpet"). Sometimes, a member will explain how they see a certain event or idea by quoting someone else's work, and then if they don't like your reply, they'll say, "that wasn't MY quote"! That gets a bit confusing. If someone were to insult my choice of a particular shirt, shall I then say, "Well now! It's not ME! Blame Brooks Brothers!" (point is if you attach yourself to someone else's quote, you are in fact saying that is also your mantra, unless you have stated otherwise. You can't expect people to read your minds!! Communication is a fine art, and the more diverse the pool of communicators, the higher the number of misunderstood conversations.
Language barrier, a small problem for me here. Some comments I do post in the blogs and forums ended up being misunderstood. Lucky enough there is private mail to settle the misunderstanding.
OkieChic: Have you ever been taken the wrong way, and that person end up not liking you? Please explain....
I have but I can not explain. pretty sad though when it happens to the point that the other person just cuts off all communication. Especially when we had been talking for close to a year. I probably should have let it go but it will probably haunt me for many years to come...... oh well, I guess it is just something to deal with. Maybe write a song or something.
