There are tons of scammers on here. Read the scammer warnings. Also, be aware that scammers steal the identities of real people. I almost got taken by a scammer a few years ago. The info he gave me was about 80% correct for the real person when I did a background check. Fortunately, the 20% that was incorrect made me suspicious. With the ability to do background checks, it is just as easy for scammers to get the information on real people as for you and me to try to check them out. I have learned to only get involved with people who are local who I can meet face to face. I no longer even consider establishing a relationship with someone who I can't meet, especially if they have some bogus reason why they can't get on webcam. Remember, though, that even if they are on webcam talking to you, some scammers really are that good looking, but that doesn't keep them from trying to trick you out of money, personal information, or anything else they think will help them along in their nasty little schemes.

Don't count on the picture. When you read the profile look for repitition of what they say, are they trying to impress you by saing they believe in true love. They say things that they think women want to hear. I'm a good man; I love God; children are the staple of the family; I don't care what you look like.
If the profile is written in perfect English but the email doesn't use verbs and nouns correctly you'll get an idea that they copied the profile from somebody else.
The biggest clue of all is if their CS email has their personal email address in it. If that happens just block them and then delete the email.

Yeah, you will find a lot of scammers on here. I have just had a recent spat of about 12 scammers.... all supposedly from the USA, all 29 - 35 wanting a relationship with me. All the photos were drop dead beautiful.
But what gave them away was when they said that they wanted to be in relationship with me or were thinking of "serious" friendship. I have posted on my profile only pen pals, etc because I have started a relationship with a lady that I met on CS. So these emails are now an absolute dead giveaway.
Mind you, when I respond exposing them, they are quite rude and indignant that I should think such a thing of them. Then I report them and delete them.
I try to give them the benefit of the doubt, but when not one of them can tell me anything about where they are from, or any other reasonable info that is reasonable to share, then this doubly confirms it for me and I report them and delete them.
It seems the Ghanans have now focussed on this site after usually hitting on another dating site that I was on.
Oh, having said this, some real people actually do post "altered" or "younger" photos of themselves. It is quite disappointing to find out that they have not always been as "honest" and "up front" as they say that they are.

clearly many of the photos are fake in the PM. I tend to read the message also and if it hints of scam language I just block it. Of course if the photo is George Clooney or Joey McIntire it obviously not real. But it doesn't always mean the person isn't real. I have a good friend on another site who used a music stars picture as his own. We chatted on hte forums and got along well even tho I knew his main photo wasn't real he had real ones on his profile

I think it is really easy to tell if a picture or profile are real and to be honest dont understand why everyone cant, its so obvious. Have never bothered using google, dont waste more than a second on the obvious fake profile.
Someone mentioned cams. I dont have one and have no interest in one if a person does not want to meet face to face then its a waste, so cya.

The author of a book called "Investidate" was on tv today explaining all the websites you can go to to prevent yourself from being scammed.
She was the product of an internet scam and thus wrote the book giving you suggestions and websites to use for investigating if the person is real; do they have a criminal history; are they a child abuser; ways to hear if their voice is different from the voice on the dating site. She gives so many sites on how to do your homework to keep from getting scammed.
If I was interested in dating I would definitely buy it.

Cam to cam or face to face in real !!! Never fall in love to the 'picture'...!!! My friend became a victim of somebody he met on facebook. That person use his friend's pictures...

What I'd like to know is why don't people put up a profile pic in the first place? Why use the generic outline of a male or a female,I beleive that if it's good enough for me to put up a photo, then why can't others do the same? Are people afraid of being judged by their appearance? I mean this is a dating site after all, if you become realistically involved with someone then you're going to eventually meet face to face anyway, you may as well be up front right from the word go.
