Any day you completely rest and don't allow others to work for you (i.e. waitresses, mechanics etc.) and you devote that whole day to prayer and worship.
no. not anymore. but if i choose to worship on saterdays only, that matters or sundays only, that matters. I feel the need to worship at all times psalm 27
Saturday worship was condoned in a little tiny country whose name came from Abraham. God changed his name later in life to "Israel". Today modern Israel is made up of perhaps only one tribe, maybe 2 from the original 12, hence why they are called "Jews" from tribe of Judah. But there were another 11 tribes.
Sabbath keeping was instigated at the exodus of this mutli-national group that departed from Egypt in the desert and was not observed ritualistically prior to this time. The covenant made with Abraham came before the Law given to Moses (and the religious sabbath keeping that came with it) and this covenant became instigated once again at the death of Christ.
Hebrews plainly explains that the sabbath rest which is now instigated under the Abrahamic covenant now once again in force because of the death of Christ on the cross, is not observed by physical day keeping, but is kept by faith. It explains that the people who kept the sabbath under the law of Moses in the crossing of the desert were not saved by keeping it and did not enter into the rest of God because they did not do it from faith, but from ritual.
So it is not a day, perse, but a state of being, of resting from religion and tradition. And living freely in faith.
italianroma: Please look at the original Sabbath Day online. You may be surprised.
I read this somewhere years ago I think it was in Ellen Whites book The Great Controversy Between Christ and Satan, if I'm not mistaken, (String help me out here) it was predicted that the Devil would change the sabbath day from Saturday to Sunday as an act that he is more powerful then God. He did succeed in doing so through the catholic church. I think the 7th day adventists make a big deal of this
