"How To Apply For a US Visa For Girlfriend Or Boyfriend

The short answer to this question is that you can’t. Not for a boyfriend or girlfriend. The relationship has to be much more substantial…the person you want to sponsor has to be a fiancé and you have to be married uh oh within 90 days of his or her entry into the country..."

Ken_19: In the US the paperwork you have to fill out as the K-1 Visa Sponsor is remarkably similar to the paperwork you have to fill out to import something expensive. So since they can't get here as a fiance without you starting a paperwork file and paying fees import is a good term.

Perhaps, importing a half-priced-wife-to-be could be cheaper to import?

Antoniacv: Well , me being a 3th world (and 3th class) citizen(indigenous hispanic fat single mother , with no AIDS btw...) getting married with a first class citizen (an european single guy) I've experienced (Or rather say I AM) the whole process that inmigrating implies...

I left my job (im an engineer) my family and everything just to be with him

What's the point?????We love eachother, regardless of what some judgemental people like you thinks (We 3th world citizens need an exit visa...)Why are YOU wasting your precious time in an international dating site??Odds might be against you when your on an international relationship (or Long Distance Relationship) but... probability get's even worse when you keep a Judgemental , narrowminded and negative attitude.

JMHO

Good for you guys :) I am from Indiana USA and my wife is from Romania and we are now in Germany LOL We will be going back to Indiana soon.

It just proves that love is an adventure

PJ1961: hmm... curious...men seeking outside country for change of choice (tired of your own people?) and women doing same... are so many that dis-satisfied with what their own culture is and represents?
That was certainly the corner I believed I was painted into when I came to Poland. My dating experienced resolved around going to a bar when I couldn't take the loneliness any more - kind of like Quasimodo leaving his bell tower - and picking up someone for a tryst lasting hours to months. Without money changing hands, it was no less transactional: a quid pro quo to satisfy needs but no deeper meaning ultimately as time ticked on.

I did end up with a 10 year relationship from this but after the first 6 months, and the break up, we became friends over time. By friends, I mean I listened to her problems (with her children, her new lovers, her ex-husband) feeling myself vindicated over weekly restaurant meetings for breakfast.

My last conscious thought of Canada, as I left my home was very distinctly this:

Is this it? And I have been wondering about the nature of that thought for the last 12 years in Poland. BUT, I physically brought myself to this land's culture rather than import it, along with a displaced person, to my culture.

[subtext: I was not worried about money.]

In response to: The 4th or 10th or even 100th richest guy (or woman) on Earth is not killing his day searching free Int'l dating web sites (unless he has gone insane of course, but he won't be rich for long if he has). He has already hired a half dozen drop dead gorgeous types who have Msster's degrees as eye candy for around the office or the estate. Likewise people with money know that one recipe for disaster is to date people without money, so as a general rule, they don't.

I am going to say, you obviously have very little dating experience with the upper tax bracket, and leave my vehement disagreement there on an Internet forum with anonymous readers. You show neither a respect for the successful people who earn their money nor a very broad experience with the management of money to make such a sweeping generalization like the above.

In response to: Yes, I agree with the fantasy thing. Yup, some are (very) hot looking and when you read their profiles they just blow the local competition away. "I am a chef specializing in Mediterranean cooking, I speak English, Chinese, Hindi and Swahili. I have a degree in economics and I own my own house. I sing in the local church choir. I made the dress I am wearing in the photo. I am tired of running a restaurant and I want to be a normal housewife and have children. Please no scammers or married men."

OMG!

Well, this is dissonance between the intellectual (mind) and the emotional (body). I am saying they are both at play – always – and it is the wise person that can handle the two, especially when one subsides into the other. It is the crafty marketer who can sustain the illusion of separation. And yes, the type of advert you quote (above) is total nonsense.

In response to: Then you look at where they live, and your almost empty wallet, the cost of the needed airfare and hotel fees so you could actually go there and meet them after you first get a passport and travel approval for that country, and the State dept website where they list the cost of a K1 Visa and average lawyer fees, and, if you aren't on drugs or drunk, you realize fat Linda down the street who at age 34 will soon get a GED and has absolutely no life skills, and a revoked DL because of her second DWI conviction, living in her ex's basement, and who thinks putting a frozen pizza in the microwave is cooking is probably a more realistic person to message.

You’re talking about lowering standards. That’s counter factual to the criteria implied by an active search, in my humble opinion.

In response to: Interesting the responses that avoid answering the questions or issues and instead attack the person who dares to ask it.

For the record, I think your questions are very pertinent to sites like this one – as are all your concerns. I was attracted to your poll because your question was relevant to the site I am on. I did not come for the argument others appear to wish to make. But their attraction might be to how rather than what your post expresses your concern. How something is said is often times more important than what is said. It also betrays a kind of defensive mindset I never waste my time on.

But that said, my criticism about extrapolating from generalities, still applies.

I cannot seem to delete the above post so just disregard as a duplicate of what is below.

Ken_19: There is no question some of the women in some of the countries have much more attractive profiles than some of the women in the US. They cook, they sew, they promise obedience and love forever, many are multi-lingual, etc. Also fat women seem to be rare in some of the countries and many, many are slim and pretty. Many say right up front 'I want to get married and leave here.' The issue I see is the legal requirements and financial requirements are a serious obstacle for that ever happening. US Immigration law requires you to be able to prove if seeking a K-1 visa for them that you went there, and you met them before applying for the Visa, more money spent. You will need an Immigration lawyer, more money. Both you and her will be subject to character investigation. Guess who pays for that? Are some of them B-girls? Probably. Some may have AIDS too. In some countries they may also need an exit Visa. They will probably want you to pay for that too. Some are scammers with bogus profiles too. So we come to really two questions. Why are you looking at what you will never be able to afford to buy (the Visa, although the gir;'s parents may in some cultures expect a dowry for themselves), and if you are one of those women, what is the point? Your odds of someone like Bill Gates coming along to pull you out of 'end of the world' province in the country of Chllleast are slim to non-existent, so why you wasting your time in international dating?
Who attack you?YOU are the one with prejudices, and I did'nt find in your post that you are looking there answers, you just directly blaming foreign woman who look for love in international sites.Hey,means there is a reason, the other one regardless you describe, believe me.And I am teeling you again I'll never turn my head for a type like you, still exist mens who can appreciate me for what I am,who feel that I have much to give.Relax. And not everyone is arrogant and think just about money.

Using the term "import" is very in inhumane and incorrect as well. Your statements are misleading and though you may feel genuine in what you are writing it could easily be confusing to many that truly may have fallen in Love and wish to lead a life together in the USA. The K1 is not the only way to go. You can also spend all the time you wish together outside of the USA and many couples that I know personally living right here did just that. They met and then spent time and communicated over time. Some longer than others. If you are married than you can bring your husband/wife, or relative by way of I-130. You do not need to have a lawyer though they are more than willing to take your money. You do need to be honest with yourself and realize that it is a big commitment. But isn't marriage a big commitment? Yes. And as for Aids??? that is just some scare tactic. Anyone that is irresponsible can get Aids no matter where they are, and yes even people that are responsible can get it too if they do not take care in the way they live their life. I have met and dated women from a few other countries and though it is no ones business I will just offer it for the sake of others that for myself and the women I met over the years we both had medical blood-work to be certain that neither of us were at risk with "any" unforeseen blood conditions. So, I will say in conclusion that yes, one must know what the criteria is to be fair to both people that are involved. And no, this outline of "importing" someone is absurd and lacking in information to people that may wish to pursue a life together. The most important thing is Honesty to each other and patience because it really can take up to a year or more to have the paperwork go through. One year is not that long if you are planning a lifetime decision. With that said, Good luck to all and take your time and read read and then research and read. You can do all this if you really both are committed.
Cheers.

galrads: Haven't you wondered why Marco Polo spent so much time in the East. Hint, it wasn't because he was collecting great wealth, seeing the sights or obtainging powers in the service of a great Khan. If you want something, try turning your computer off and go get it.

You are of course aware that some today are now arguing that while he left on the trip and returned from it, he may not have actually been to all of the places he reported he had. This was a fairly safe embellishment while he was alive as very few if any were likely to visit some of the places he described during his lifetime. What is intriguing to some scholars, who for centuries accepted his accounts as gospel, is the discovery that in some places, his descriptions miss key features he had to have seen, if he had actually been the one viewing the area.

HOW did you get the photo of the charger to display without having to do an http/ ?? I tried pasting an IMG file (elsewhere and wound up going http/photobucket ) but this system forbade that, so how did you do it?

You are of course kind of proving my point regarding the upper 10% of the worlds wealthy. If I had hundreds and hundreds of millions of dollars I like to think I would have more experience dating the women of equal wealth. I have however been 'blessed' to attend private educational facilities with some who probably fit into that kind of category, children of foreign dictators and drug lords, children of founder/owners of well known known corporations, etc. and did have occasion to observe the ones their parents had no opposition to their dating. If they rejected the parent's choices once they were free of HS, I don't know. I didn't follow their lives after that beyond reading occasional stories about losing former classmates in assassination bombings or private plane crashes. What used to be called the Jet Set kids. Folks who thought nothing about catching an SST flight to Paris so they could have lunch and be back in NYC in time for tonight's show at Lincoln Center. No, women from that strata don't hang out with Snuffy Smith's who drive 30 year old pick up trucks, so no dating experience with women from that tax bracket.

The type of advert you find nonsense may be nonsense, but if you look, you will find some of similar genre on here, also many of the duller more typical and vacuous, I am about love and do all for my man.

Some men are so brainless when trying to “import” a woman-wife from a less developed country and that includes some Mexicanos as well.

The uncle of a friend of mind (after his divorce) he went to Cuba to bring a girl back with him, he is around 60+ and he did marry a much younger girl in Cuba but he could not bring her here, after spending lots of money,

An acquaintance of mine got divorced from his Mexican wife so he went to Cuba to bring a Cuban wife with him, he did and yes she was way younger than him and as soon as she reached Mexican land, she did stole him money and some jewels (his late mother’s jewels) and run away with her lover (a Cuban whom was already in USA).

Ken_19: Good heavens. I don't doubt the profiles are real in the least (many of them anyway). I just want someone to explain to me given the legal and financial hurdles why that would be someone's first choice.

Importing may be a poor choice of words since the person, male or female, will also be doing some of the paperwork, and oooo I hurt someone's feelings by using that word, but really when you go to a government and say I would like your permission for this or that person to come into my country, that is an importation, especially if you are the one paying all the costs.

sorry to get back to you so long into the thread... I have lived in central america for nearly two years (where I am not all that "aligned" with), have been on a healing path after a serious accident and felt awhile back it was time to start looking for love again... wasn't in much mood or condition for about four years... so, I came to CS to see what was going on... and I found my match. He and I do not live in same country and that doesn't matter. My comment was in regards to those whose paradigms limit their scope. The world is my "country" and I am now here to enjoy the dialog.
