StormMc: The whole thing your mising is that you have a very shallow understanding of what went on like the lady says it was more than black and white there was a lot more to it as well as tribilisation among the black people as well as the dutch white and british white
Your sermon to someone else,as far understanding is concern.-Lived there for few decades. Your black and white was to have the indigenous people,as second class citizens????frustrated

chris27292729: Just for your info, lived there, and in my opinion, there was NO excuses, for the imposition of the apartheid system, for the benefits of the """Whites Only""".

The system was based on an interpretation of the Bible....and it was a system of separate cultural development...not hate based but more recognizing the differences of opinion...by all races - a supercharged version of natural African tribalism....still a popular concept today with all the different white (and black) groups/parties...look at American jails ?

To be sure.....the € is worth R10+ ....Eire is the 2nd best country in the world to live in (my opinion)....and when I've made my €...I'll be spending 6 mths in SA sun and 6mths in Irish sun....so I'll be running back & forth...while you Greeks are still trying to fix the economic mess you caused Europe (albeit with help from the Paddy fellas)....anyway I guess you have no concept of the old SA or the new 'Rainbow nation' stuck in Greece...reverse apartheid rules mon!irish

Not to be rude Chris, but you lived here during apartheid for a few decades as a white man benefiting from the system, did you not? Or were you active in trying to change the system? It was a brutal unjust system that dehumanised the oppressed and oppressors alike. Some of us, black and white, fought to bring an end to it.

I, and many others, were teargassed, beaten, shot and detained....but we stayed and saw it through.

South Africa IS one of the most beautiful countries in the world, and I have travelled extensively....it has its problems but its people are courageous, strong and forgiving.
