What unsupporting statements??? The apartheid laws agaist blacks,Colourds,idians,Oh.... the Chinise considered semi whites,87% of the land own by whites (5 million of them)and 13% own by blacks ( 40 millions). If you think this is fair, then something wrong with your reasoning.
StormMc: you chris bother me, ive been in this country my whole life for you to be attacking me with this bunch of unsupported statements is absurd obviously there was going to be issues between the whites and the blacks since when they first met they were threats to eachother
no having said that i do not think it was right to have done what they did but that was the only way to prevent further violence because of the fact that these two groups hated eachother and saying that the british thought back then it was possible to colonize wherever they went hence america and various countries
you speak of south africa so low but you fail to see the country which is neighboring it named zimbabwe which literally chased the whites out of there land.. now is that right? and mixed race people were not as unfairly treated as the black people either. you can argue the whole day but you will not change the fact that this is one of the GREATEST in the universe even with the crime rate which everyone thinks is so bad but it actually has decreased significantly in the last 9 years
No doubt beautifull country, with a racial history, nodays in reverse.-
unlaoised: ah, fellow African, nice to meet you. yes, i read a previous post of yours. i reckon chris had a bad experience there and now dislikes the whole country because of it. oh well, can't win 'em all.
Hi, nice to meet you too, am from a bit further north than you, Kenya, but as a child travelled extensively through SA and up to Kenya each year, as we went on annual leave to the UK and always returned via Cape Town, and drove from there back to Nairobi, Father was a rally freak and used the trips to evaluate various cars imported from Europe Wonderful and happy memories, but have to admit, I would never return to Nairobi, holds too many special memories and I am not sure I would like it today.

Beautiful Kenya...just the other day my children were saying that they'd love to visit your country. A safari in SA is one thing...a safari in Kenya is quite another, by all acounts. A wonderful childhood, for sure...I miss the vast, open skies and the sounds of the African bush at night. I travelled back to my childhood home in Johannesburg recently. Shouldn't have done it...it was best left in my happy memory bank
rizlared: Says the man who allowed his country to become bankrupt and expects the rest of Europe to pay for it And your ignorance of China is understandable, actually I have more freedom of speech here than in the UK, and in over 4 years, no one has actually contacted me and told me to "toe the line" even when I discuss controversial subject with my students such as Mao, Tibet and Taiwan, you fall into the same trap as before, you quote from media and twisted news stories, without actually knowing what is true and what is BShhit
So you tell me a chinese demostrated against the ruling party,he wouldn't be arrested and thrown to prison??? Why then so many finish up, in re-education camps???.Why single out Greece????,Italy Spain,Portugal,Ireland, have problems too, Greece more though, besides the topic is not the economy of Greece,is about SA.

Lots of people in the west have the impression that Africa is one big country. I get that a lot! One person asked me who the president of "Africa" is. I asked, "You mean the president of my country, South Africa?" He said, "No, I mean who is in charge of the whole of Africa?" I had to explain that there are 54 independent countries in Africa with their own leaders.
(As an aside, the person who asked was a US university graduate working for a global company. Another colleague with the same credentials was confused when we spoke of Bangladesh in the Cricket World Cup - He asked, "But isn't Bangladesh a city in India? How can a country have 2 teams in the World Cup? I was beside myself!)

Won't be surprised if he is actually from SA! Those are the things that South Africans usually complain about... And particularly those that have jumped ship. I've rarely ever seen a foreigner get our local issues as accurate as that
that is so embarrassing as a US citizen I could have answered those questions in the 7th grade. Education in this country is a joke on the public side (gov't sponsored schools for children).
The emphasis is on passing kids to the next grade and in colleges graduating anyone with the money to pay it's sickening. Yet recent college grads here think they know everything....that is laughable

Living in a foreign country means implicitly supporting its policies and institutions. Disagreeing with or disliking some of them is understandable. Giving it some "tough love" is fine. But if one hates the country and thinks it's uniquely bad or rotten, then why stay?
Although I hate the American wars, drones, assassinations, spying and police state, I love the country and I appreciate the opportunities I was given, so that's why I've supported it with my feet. Chris, on the other hand, acknowledges no benefits from or appreciation for SA; only criticism and condemnation.
IDK if you are a citizen stef, but honestly many Americans natural born feel similarly about wars and gov't spying. But once here in the states you can't help but love the people and the beauty of this great nation....so much is good about it. I wonder if protecting our country and our freedoms really does require all of the nonsense we put up with as far as war & spying. that's the excuse you know.
