Wow, so many responses. Thank you everyone for your encouraging comments and remarks. I really helps clear things up and put it in another light. Surprisingly, my emotional state is quite well, except for the dating part. I have met a couple ladies in person that I met online first. I gave them fair warning as to my condition. I'm a quadriplegic, but not a vent. I have a little use of my left hand. But nothing else works.

I think the dealbreaker for both times was that I don't seem like I'm disabled talking on the phone. When they see me in person I am more disabled than they expected. I think I was giving an accurate description of myself. Their loss, right?

Seems like the forums on this site will be fun. Looking forward to reading posts from all of you.banana

Not their loss, not your loss, it just didn't work out.

If you had a good time meeting up with a couple of people, you had a good time. Go meet some more. applause

There is someone out there for you.. Someone that sees you for who you are .... Don't give up... Wheelchair or not I am sure you are a wonderful person... I have a daughter that is in a wheelchair she is 27 years old.. but she has Cerebral Palsy. I know how some people think but it is not the whole world... Keep looking.... She is there... and to answer the question... I see the person that is inside not outside... I do not judge the book by it's cover.... Take care and may your journey in this life be good... go fine loveteddybear

Would especially be pen to those who became handicapped because helpful like firefighters, military etc. Depends on the person and values. People see things so different. I could overlook the ways it would also slow down my life at times if he had above AVERAGE ways of thinking..not perfect though either, of course.teddybear

In all honesty, the wheelchair in itself is not a deal breaker, but the person would have to have something about them that I am looking for, for me to allow the possibility. I don't mean material wealth, although that might do it for some people.

It's always a ballance, in every case, never mind the wheelchair..the person has this detriment, but this positive personality, that I really want to be around, and add to my life.

Stop worrying about the wheel chair, and think about what positive traits/possibilities you could work on bringing to the table.
