The saying was suppossed to be with an ironic tone.
In fact my translation is incomplet and the real saying is:
"No hay mujer tan mala que no merezca 10 años de viudez".
On the other side: I am not a widower but I have to work and I have done it since I was in my Teens' and do everything by myself as well.
Even when I was married for 24 years I was working full time and I had to do many things by myself, including educating my children.

Probably for a few different reasons I think...1. The dreaded period, its like changing your oil. 2. Even in retirement women still carry on with their everyday work around the house, while most men, sit back and seize to death on the couch. 3. Women talk about their emotions more than men, so it releases stress and tension. 4. Women eat less red meat than men. Most women drink less alcohol than men. 5. God is a man and likes to party and watch football, so he gets us in early before the women arrive and start nagging
