The Captain & Tennille Are Getting a Divorce...... After 39 years of marriage. Might it be so simply because he can't play the keyboards like he used to?

JeanKimberley: yet interesting poll, yet it is really no one's business but the them - we weren't in their marriage so why would we be in their divorce -
of course, I forgot, the lawyers are in their divorce.
Well, being that they are in their seventies now and having 39 years invested together, their public marriage and public divorce, makes me wonder what's it all about......especially considering their first hit song 'Love will keep us together."
There appears to be something in the divorce papers about his health care coverage. People often divorce for reasons other then growing apart. 39 years of marriage is nothing to snub your nose at. Many of us enjoyed their music when they were young. Lets give them respect as they go through this troubling time.
"In 2010, Toni wrote on her blog, "Toni's Take," that her husband was suffering from a neurological disorder. "Daryl told me this morning that he is not up to performing the three C&T songs I had hoped he could do," she wrote. "Many of you know he is dealing with a neurological condition (not Parkinsons, but something similar) that causes him to have tremors...pretty severe at times.... that interfere with his ability to play keyboards. Some days he does pretty well.... other days his playing is severely compromised. His condition is exacerbated (sic) by any kind of stress, and worrying about his ability to play has made his condition worse."
A section of the divorce documents (which Yahoo Music has not yet seen) reportedly has a distinct passage about health care coverage, and could give more insight as to the reasons behind the divorce."

As if they ever had the recipe for a long and happy marriage - they only had a recipe for a making music for the rest of us to enjoy. They are just folks trying to make their way in this world like the rest of us - and it is none of my business nor interest about their personal lives.

ok... I accept that. I'm not usually into other's personal daily affairs but their reason for divorce is made public by law (just as their marriage(s) are), and this breakup makes me particularly sad. For me, it's all part of life, and death. I read the local obituaries too.
I recall..... people back then use to include a line in their witnessed marriage vows something like this: 'till death do us part.'

You are a good person, certainly better than me in embracing our community and society.
I gave up trying to figure out people a long time ago, I look in my own back yard now. There was a historical and legal reason for marriage until death do us part. It is however an invention of society, not a consequence of our human hearts. We have such a capacity to great love and the flip side of the coin.
Maybe we should start to see divorce as a happy occasion not a sad one. Divorce is a new beginning to end one marriage and create of two individuals - an untangling of assets and a reassertion of each individuals.

Yeah, hahaha that's certainly how I looked at the dissolution of my first marriage.
My upbringing though has seen marriage as a covenant, not just a contract between two people. Not a reciprocal agreement, but a one-sided promise or grant; sorta like a last will and testament.
