I have a friend in Canada (ex SA). He cannot walk without the aid of crutches, and then it goes slowly, but he is very good on computers, highly intelligent. U don't even notice that he has a disability.
But we r perfect in comparison, but r still complaining all the time of the most ridiculous things.
Being the eternal optimist that I am (read: gullible, naive, ingenuous, etc if you will lol) at best I hope the OP is aiming for readers to recognise how good we have it.At worst, her thread promotes conversation.Currently reading a book about anorexia and have come upon a term, 'thinsperation' which your post reminded me of
How good we have it at the expense of holding disabled people up as having it bad?
Doesn't that work on the assumption that it's bad to be disabled?
Personally, I think an environment which doesn't cater for people's needs needs changing and in order for that to happen voices need to be heard, not suppressed.
