I never had to. I'm arrogant enough to believe that I raised him well. When my son misbehaved, all I had to do is give him a stern look or threaten to use the "board of education" or the wooden cooking spoon. He knew then that I meant business

The Father of my children and I decided –before our children were born- not to physically punish them and we never did except for one time I did slap my son (he was a teenager) and he was challenging me. I felt terrible but he was testing the limits and he found them.
As a child my parents never did physically punish me yet one time my Dad was going to give a slap to one of my brothers and I was besides him but my brother run and I got the slap, my father was so mortified and I was upset and crying but later we did hug and everything was normal.
So, no.
Physical punishment to children is not ok to me.

I just do not rely on physical violence when there are many ways to be a good parent and a partner without that type of behavior.
