Well, I think we have just about covered the full spectrum of things, whether it has anything to do with Malaysian cooking or not is another mater, yet, I'm still pondering on ideas of how to get deli sandwiches in that region. Doesn't look hopeful... One can eat only so much fish.
KNenagh: Have a BBQ - some nice veggies in olive oil with lots of garlic (make sure you both eat them) and nicely marinated chicken.
In general - I don't know how expensive it is to eat out all the time, it would be too expensive for a family to do this daily in a lot of European places (if you're not loaded).
What about doing a cookery course? It is possible to prepare quick and easy dishes or the odd toasted sandwich with salad or a soup.
Enjoy the evening with him.
Hiya KNenagh
It's pretty affordable to eat out all the time over here unless you go for 5-star fine dining.
Don't really fancy cooking at all therefore going for cooking classes would not interest me much. Those instructions on cooking probably go to my right ear and head straight out through my left ear
CuddlingSoul: Hey Dreamcatcher, sorry I just now checked-out your thread... Burn down the house ? Most foods cooked, turn-out better if cooked on low heat and just take your time doing it, let it simmer, whatever you cook... Keep from being overwhelmed by choosing only two items for a few weeks: A main dish and one side item, then a simple dessert or even a large snack instead... Ouch, Okay, Houston, we've had a problem here... I checked-out the cooking videos about cooking food in your country and half of the videos are about cooking chicken curry, I know, sounds familiar... If he follows Hinduism, he doesn't eat beef, half of Malaysia is Islamic and must be near impossible to find pork... This thread definitely needs more help from other members. Sorry that I couldn't help more.
Hi CuddlingSoul
Trust me to still burn down the house even with simmering!
Just to let you know, even though it's predominantly Muslim here, we still can get pork easily. Only problem is, I don't fancy pork or beef!
Lolette: Just to add something ,,, like most of the asian countries, there street (food) vendors anywhere, good as what we simmer at home,, it is almost economical to bring your man outside down the street, and it's lively ,, that keeps you a lot of cutting and slicing as most of the cooking, meats are sliced to small cuts.
Very true, Lolette
I've checked with him if he minds going to street stalls ( ample of them here ) to eat. Thankfully, he doesn't!
Oh btw, he's not Asian but I think he's adapting to Malaysia very well.
Happygolucky4u: Pizza delivery-good wine-and a nice fresh salad I have found fruit salads good with pizza
I am sure that food is not what he is really hungry for. Your company should be what he is most interested in. Even a blind man could see your beauty. Enjoy your time with him. Don't sweat the small stuff. Just have fun. You can even make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich fun with a little imagination.
Aaahhhh...pizza sounds heavenly
Your comment makes perfect sense...and I do have a wild imagination
Ocee102: If you want to cook for him, then do. The same thing that drives a person want to feed another, will drive them to want to do it well. Keep it simple at first, the risk will be to try and over achieve. You can always add a little something at the plate, but it's harder to take things back out. As something of a neophyte cook myself, I prefer the simple, short ingredient list dishes and adding things to them over successive preparations. If it's just going to be a chore to you like washing dishes, do it as little as possible.
Hi Ocee
Do not try to over achieve. Maybe instant noodles with boiled eggs
Ccincy: Get him to help you in the kitchen and explain to him that you don't see yourself as being a good cook.Who knows he may not be so good cook too.Just enjoy the day or evening with him.
Hi Ccincy
He did say that he's not much of a cook either, phew!

Dreamcatcher99: Help!!! I'm a terrible + miserable cook. I've just recently met someone fabulous! and would love to cook something nice for him but knowing me, I'd sooner burn the whole house if I embarked on that.
What shall I do? Please help....
Cook something he really likes together. He'd show you how it's done, and then you can surprise him with it later.
