My life is like unto a Bargain Store
And I may have just what you're lookin' for
If You don't mind the fact that all the merchandise is used-
But with a little mending it could be as good as new
Why you take for instance this old broken heart-
If you will just replace the missing parts
You would be surprised to find how good it really is
Take it and you never will be sorry that you did

The Bargain Store is open - come inside
You can easily afford the price
Love is all you need to purchase all the merchandise
And I will guarantee you'll be completely satisfied

KremaP: Sure it is...choose the height, weight, colour, education blah blah...then hit the "search" button and voila...You can always cancel your order as well...
And there is nothing wrong with that...you won't buy anything you don't like will you? PS Or just spend good time in the forums and save yourself the shopping troubles...

Marilyn Monroe once said this: "Women are criticized for wanting a man who is rich and can take good care of them. But everyone thinks it's swell for a man to want a woman who's pretty. It's just as reasonable for a woman to want to be taken care of as it is for a man to want a pretty wife". You know, I see where Marilyn's coming from and in the final analysis, I agree with her.

Guess this is about right....the majority of vane men prefer very pretty women by their side to show to all other men "Look what I got"....so is it love or just another possession.

Oh you self-contradicting sycophantic Mr Bean. You make that point about vain men under a picture of history's greatest trophy piece whose partners were the perfect example of the men you're talking about.

I feel that most people on dating sites have high expectations. too high, and most want “any kind of relationship” to happen immediately, and in the age of consumerism and digital everything, picking a "date" is pretty much the same process as picking a pair of shoes.....

online dating should be about personal interaction, not a car dealership , where you choose a model by “colors/make”. in fact, it is a convenient to know another person's interests and background before actually meeting on a date.

but thats another issue. enjoy life, enjoy dating (online or not)!

Sometimes blogging or the forums is an opportunity to see the character of people on line...similar to dating or interacting with people in RL...there is always going to be a shallow Hal out there...wine

2intrigued: Dating sites work for some people but for the most part, they are virtual candy stores.
I'm beginning to believe it's more like window shopping. Many look (view profiles) but none buy (make contact) or don't even bother to reply. conversing

No I don't think of this as a "shopping site", despite what some others might think, or even try to turn the idea of "online dating" into.

Any person is able to meet more people in a rather short order due to the nature of a site like CS, globally. I see that as a benefit to anyone that is willing to make an effort to actually go through with meeting people, regardless of where they're situated. Many just sit online and hope or maybe even expect that someone will fall into their lap. When it doesn't happen, they complain, whine, snivel, etc...then start blaming internet dating because of their lack of prospective dates or non activity in general.

Sure, I've talked to a lot of people on the site over the years, met some great friends through the site, even dated a little. That took being proactive about it all, going out and making an effort, meeting people, even travelling several times. It was all worth it, and I have no regrets. grin

Of course, through this medium it's easy to meet, get to know, then forget people, it's almost expected in a way. I don't see it as a sign of the times, people being disposable, it's just that some people should be given a miss, and it's easier to figure that out than ever. That is especially true when you are on the forums of any given site, and even more so if you've been on them for a while.

Like anything in life, you have to make an effort, maybe even work for it, otherwise how will you appreciate what you have when you get it.

Get off your asses and quit whining. cowboy
