KremaP: Intelligence is a matter of willingness to achieve more knowledge, to change the degree of the attractiveness often requires extreme or drastic measures that are beyond our willingness...
Of that I have no doubt... But let's look at facts.. An employer is generally more likely to employ someone based on their looks, rather than on their academic skills, especially where women are concerned.. That also applies when looking for a partner, especially by successful men.. Women , on the other hand, would sacrifice looks & choose a partner based on their success & achievements , especially when their objectives are long term.
lifeisadream: More than looks and intelligence, education/discipline can be more important.
Again, I would have to emphasise that the topic of conversation is purely asking if , given the choice, would you choose to be more attractive or more intelligent & how you could use either to your advantage.
Ccincy: Most people would probably choose attractive.
While some would probably choose intelligence.
In today's world it does help to have both.
I would say so too.. Considering most people think they are intelligent, its highly unlikely they have the same confidence, where their looks are concerned.
truheart1941: I.d like to be ,six foot,,,,,3inches tall......with 1/2 notes looks.....agood brain....then they could call me...........*frankenstein*...........
You're not far off.. A couple of inches on your height & you're almost there.
One2note: You have to take into consideration, that most dating sites don't have forums & they can only go by a photo & a few words.
I agree.
But then many people don't put up pics either.
And to be honest, I don't take much notice of pics even when they are up. They can either be embellished, or can do a disservice to people. Not everybody is photogenic.
However, even those few words can give an idea of intelligence. Certainly, after a message or two it would become very clear.

Intelligence doesn't show the true quality of a person.. Being smart doesn't necessarily make them good boyfriend material... By looking at a picture, assuming it's the genuine article, you can tell a lot about their personality.. The way they dress & present themselves, their expression etc etc.
If I picked more attractive, that would the increase the number of opportunities as far as dating goes, no question...but I prefer quality, not quantity. lol. I have no desire or need for being wanted for that reason...it is kind of like riches that way...you wonder what you are really being loved or being pursued for....your body, or your money.
sophiasummer: I am both. No matter how nervous I may have been.
Yet to appeal, is a great asset, it renders down to whom is interviewing you, that can see, what is most needed in the position one has applied for.
Yet always go into it in the best form, using both skills.
.
A combination of both is the ideal scenario, but it depends on the type of job involved.. Models for example , need limited intelligence , whereas a more skilled job, may require more intellectual skills .
calmheartseeks: As I said, I would prefer to be more intelligent.

You also have to take into consideration that rich, successful men, are in a similar situation... Do women want me for my looks & personality , or the financial rewards that await them.

Looks don't tell the true quality of a person either
As I said, many people are not photogenic, and others photoshop themselves, so that doesn't present their true self either
And as we only have a choice of looks or intelligence, I would still go for intelligence.
To me, it is to love yourself, know yourself, knowing yourself enables you to take chances, if you get the job and edges are unfamiliar, you must know the right way to find out. You will wade through it by your intelligence to "know" what questions you ask.
Every job has a "way", you must need to sway that body in Modelling, Such a hard scene for any Model person. If that's ones career, good on them.
For Engineering there are formats you must learn within any company too. Whether heading a forum, to hard hat construction meeting. Liaising with the contractors.
To be skilled takes a lot of dedication, it does not matter what line of work, it should not make someone feel that they are limited because of the work they do.
I appreciate an honest answer... If you look at it, apart from the compulsory education & when pushed, further education or university standard, how much time & money do we spend on improving our intelligence capacity, as a pose to enhancing our looks, whether it be , a visit to the hairdressers, buying nice clothes, regular gym visits, or beauty products..

I'm sounding really boring , aren't I
Reading, studying, travel etc. all continuously improve our knowledge.
Education should be a lifelong journey without an end

Leave my hairdressers, clothes buying, no gym!,(just taking my awesome little dog to the beach) beauty products (Just a good moisturiser) Out of the equation.

The education of life is good as far as improving your social skills are concerned.... It can open your eyes in a way than no book can.. Often books can influence our opinions in the way we see things ,especially by the media, whereas viewing things for ourself, we can form our own , unbiased opinion & that to me, that makes the person more interesting.

Everything influences us, whether we see it in person or read about it. And everything is biased due to our own history and place in society.
As we can't see and experience everything first hand, we have to learn from it through the varied knowledge and experiences of others.
In 1930's Germany, they burned books as a rebellion against intellectualism. I hope we don't enter another period of even virtual book burning.

One2note: Which option do you think will further your career or help you in life generally?
It would depend on the career people search for yet the options given are limited and i do not need to choose looks or intelligence I am content with what I have of both.
sophiasummer: I'll chuck you a bunch of my grapes when they are ready soon. Just indulge and relax. (then I may let you banter with me) again.................
I have a lovely vines that grows right over my little outdoor garden on the farm.
The vines growing over the the in the back yard, brings back village life in Cyprus.. What I would do to bring those days back again.

My question was based on what quality of the 2, would you prefer to be & why it would benefit you!
