I'd say that the 20th century was a destructive and creative and very, very destructive time. Discovering the universe, the world wars, moon landing amounted to a time unequalled in imagination.
But I think this will die away as we enter into a feudal and much more generic century where safety and insurance mean that a crap idea can't fail until everything fails. What once was a competition at the top of society is now an insurance industry.

Which will cumulate in China. They don't make movies for the audience, they make the audience fit the movie. You'll like what your damn well told to like.
And to be honest I think this fits an aging population to see the same thing over and over again. I've said this before but instead of being young we have an infantilised world that remakes comic books. An entire room full of men consuming what was originally made for little boys.

a lot of the movies are also woke and politically correct...basically boring and of no interest to someone...who enjoys a decent movie and don't fear what actors say in them

yes like the mainstream news brainwashing the masses and making them think what they are told to think...brainwashing and predictive programming has been in movies for a very long time and it will get much worse

that's like women playing with barbie dolls in adulthood
I think Anna Karenina has been over-produced. Best movie version I've seen stars Greta Garbo.
"Anna Karenina has been adapted many, many, many times over the past century. Based on my extensive research, there have been fifteen movies, six television series, four ballets, four operas, two musicals, one lonely play, and even a steampunk mash-up novel based on the 800-page opus."

Au contraire! There are thousands of books on the market...what they lack are good screen writers to turn them into great movies. Sadly, most authors to write the books in all fields are not talented movie screenwriters. And then those writers , for the most part do not adequate compensation for their efforts. The viewing/ would-be viewing movie fans get nothing but re-gurgetated crap that pass as entertainment, aka "a movie" starring ....some new politically 'woke' actor /actress. Not a good formula for entertainment.
