ChesneyChrist: Not according to the suicide rates they're not and I think what finishes them off is the sense that you're supposed to be happy because it's sunny. But the new dawn fades. And heat is especially oppressive to those who labour if we were agricultural workers midday would be bedtime and I think it is this summer as the holiday that wasn't. To be expected to be happier in spite of the oppressive condition is probably what finishes people off.
A similar thing happens around Christmas time but I think in summer there's more of it with less to be happy about compared to Christmas. And to have Christmas in summer would be a suicide hotspot according to my theory, times equivalent to the edge of a cliff although I've not checked the evidence on this.
