Nick_24: No way, i have had my dog since he was born, and he has been a better friend to me then any woman i ever dated since..least he can listen and not talk back
Then how do you know he is listening, and not day dreaming?
mike69spain: In the choice of not having my dog around my legs and the cat on my pillow or not having the life I could have with my partner...
I can find a family for my pets, but how could I replace a life my partner.
Jesus, people, you do have your priorities right
I'm beginning to suspect there's something rather significant re romantic relationships in how people respond to this question...a litmus test of sorts at how one feels about romantic love?

Probably you are right, I had a similar thought kicking my head..
mike69spain: They are to me too, 13 long years I have lived with my dog, 5 with the cat...
But still, there are somethings they can not replace, and not being willing to give that a chance, well, that leaves us in the bed we made, I guess.
For each one to do as they feel is right, I just could not get my head around it, that's all.
I think the following might make for an interesting and possibly very revealing poll: For those who would never consider giving up a pet for your love (even under compelling circumstances), how many of you have ever been deeply, "soulmatishly," in love - and experienced that love for a significant period and as an ultimately very positive experience?
roll: NO WAY my dog is family, I would never even think about giving her up not even for my own health. I think asking someone to give up thier pet is like askng them to walk away from family not to mention braking the promise you made when you took on the responsablity of a pet. Anyone that has pets knows they would never give you up or walk away from you, they are always there for you, always loyal to you.

my x wanted me to get rid of my purebred persian cuz she kept wee'ing on his work clothes maybe if he didn't keep leaving his dirty work clothes on the floor she wouldn't have done it!
but anyways, everytime she did it, I had to remind him that he pee's on the bathroom floor, so whats the difference?!
amazingly enough, she hasn't had a potty problem since we broke up
gooddogman: Got to be No Way. 1st sentence in my profile MUST LIKE DOGS. Horses a plus cats are cool. I have seen to many dogs go to the pound and are killed because of people not wanting them or Divorce. When you have a animal they are a family member treat them with respect. You just don't toss them away. Would you get rid of the kids for your significate other. The other would go first. Right. Thank for letting me vent.
I feel exactly the same way. I'd never get rid of my pet mice for a female......NO WAY!
jojo1859: I think I would go with depending because if my dog were sickly and going to die anyway then i would put him down, or if my husband were allergic to my dog, it'd be hard but I think I'd still get rid of him.
Nooooooo...that's why they make allergy pills....
If he just didn't like animals...he's be hittin the door before she ever would.....
