jvaski: GO OBAMA !!!!........... Get that Health System whipped into shape !

Seems like the AMA (American Medical Association) and the Hospitals are having a bit of problems with that draft plan of Obama health care. Seems the hospitals don't like losing the $313b in MediCaide and MediCare that is being done. That the Dr. seem to be angry about having government agencies between them and their patients.

Seems the DR think that they are in a better position to decide the health care that a patient needs, than a untrained gov't offical in DC can.
can.

President Obama speech at the AMA did not go very well. He recieved a 'smattering of boos' from the doctors. Then again if
one uses such naames calling those against his health care program 'naysayers'.....'fearmongers'......and 'peddlers of a Trojan Horse'....is not exactly going to win you friends and influence
them to your position.

Nor is taking $313b from several FED programs for elderly, hospital, and DR servicea.....

So who is right here?

President Obama........who personal experience in medical fields has to as least or near as least to his military experience.

Or

American Doctors that have spent their working lifetime in medical study and practices?

President Obama comes into this debate with the numbers that a accountant would present to corporation board. Here are the cost, here is how we can cover them, here is the need, here is the revenues.

Most Doctors apply the hypocratic oath to trying to save lives. Though some may make and have made decision by the cost and ability to pay....most simply provide the medical service....and
say the cost will be met in time.

Hillary Clinton's health care plan was some 21,000 page long.
Administrators and buaecrats were going to read thru those pages to determine if a patient met the requirement for heart transplant or spleen operation, a cancer treatment or a MRI. That is what was going to make decisions to patient care in Washington DC. if it passed. That broken Washington DC that so many have talked of.

Now President Obama wants us to trust that broken Washington DC
with our health. Because let us also face the fact, he has not reformed Washington....maybe 'changed' it....but real reform has not occurred.

President Obama has said....you will be able to have your DR and your insurance carrier if you like them. But your Dr is going to be challenging those administrators for approval for tests, operations and procedures. Your insurance carrier is going to be competing with a massive FED gov't insurance firm.

How long will your rates and coverage stay low and solid? Is a guess that none are talking of. How well Doctor can get those approvals from broken Washington to give medical care? Is again any one's guess.

President Obama did not seem to make many friends in his home town of Chicago this trip. Doctors are not like your NFL, MLB, or NBA fan...they don't usually boo a sitting president, like a sports official that made a bad call. First time I have heard of it.

But this time, sounds like President Obama is making a bad call.

I also agree. Aside from domestic issues, he has already made huge strides in repairing the damage Bush did to America's international relations. Regarding domestic and international issues, those who are such adamant nay-sayers simply appear to be sore losers. Things will change, you need to give it time. If and when he fails, they start attacking him, but he hasn't even had time to prove himself one way or the other.

Among other things with this health care plan, I'm curious about how President Obama is going to cut cost to health care, ask doctors to not do so many tests and then not have tort reform. He's not in favor of limiting medical malpractice lawsuits which is the reason why most doctors order extra or unnecessary testing on patients yet he's going to encourage doctors to not be too worried about lawsuits? That's rather confusing unless I missed something. Perhaps he's thinking that since it's government health care then it'll be good enough for government work.

I also don't think he's inspiring a cooperative environment when he accuses people with different opinions of being fear mongers and other derrogatory names. He sounded more like your typical CS - Current Events/politics poster than a diplomat. Not very presidential indeed

Wish to know who first attempted to rein in MedCaide and MediCare, Jvaski?

You will like this one.

Newt Grinrich, when he was speaker in the house.

Then the DEMs put out a vicious negative ad campaign on him.....that he was trying to 'hurt the senior' health care.....that he 'keeping medical care' from the American
people.

What Grinrich proposed then....was to have a slow growth program in the two (e.g legislated growth). But DEM twisted his position in the negative ad campaign. Guess who voted over the years for the massive spending in the two programs?

Now President Obama is finding these billions that the DEM voted into Medicaide and Medicare....calling it waste. If it is now waste. Why was it not waste when Grinrich was speaker in the house?

But the net effect is the same...Hospital will cut back in staff and services. Dr. will cut back in staff and services. Drug firms will limit their lines of drugs....

Fallingman: Why so,conrad? Seriously....what is wrong with what they are attempting to bring in?

I see if I fill in the gap...Fallingman.

Presently there are some 1300 medical insurance companies in the US.

Now President Obama health care program is to give gov't health care to the 40% of the country that don't ave it. Give...either by gov't voucher, or credits, or the tax as you use program. Every American will qualify for the program, even the 60% that do have health insurance.

Now none of the 1300 companies providing health insurance can complete with the FED government. The base of users for this Gov't program is larger than any of theirs. The costs....even if it the tax program that is being discussed....will be cheaper than the
rates of these 1300 firms.

This very competitive Medical insurance industry will soon going have many companies folding up. A lot of unemployment will result.

Free enterprise, Fallingman. People spent their career lives building this industry in the country. Now Government can force them out of business.

Gov't should regulate insurance for quality and performance, yes. But not compete in it.

Gov't ineffeincy in Washington, that broken bit of America...is going to drive up the cost. It always does. The projected cost
of the gov't program is $1 trillion over 10 years. Where does President find the money? Not sure the Chinese want to pay for our health care. Suspect they are going to want us to pay for their social security in the next five years with those T-Bills.

Money either comes from the tax payer or the printing press.
Health care in this country employs 1 in 5. If President Obama messes it ....we are being scammed....and we got it wrong....
massive lay offs, hospitals closing, DR. shutting down.

Actually it is really simple. To get health insurance for these 40%. It is at the state level. State already use these 1300 companies to insure their workers, teachers, etc. Just start state program with the exiting firms. Grow thier business...and keep the FED out of it.
