i have found that people are quite fond of americans all over the world. statements like "everyone hates america" is used by politicians, trouble makers, and military to justify their invasion of other countries. i have talked to quite a few iraqis and muslims, and found it surprising that they were actually making excuses for americans, saying that not all americans are bad. "it's the govt not the people". if they can think like that, they who have been bombed by americans, then clearly, america is not the most hated.

I think the US should be helping poor countries. When you see those places in the TV commercials for charity where they all live in shacks, I always thought those people could be given carpentry lessons and supplies. If their local government lets them live in shacks, the government should not mind if they build better dwellings on the same site. They could even be taught to build so called gypsy carts so they can try to move if there is a disaster or if they are squatters. And how a bout a campaign to teach people about bio domes and hydroponic gardening, and stuff like that. Nine tenths of the reason other countries hate us boils down to where we have everything and they have nothing. You can't just give the people a bio dome and trust them to run it, but you can use a bio dome to teach people how to garden and then give them the vegetables grown in there, and teach them to grow their own vegs,etc.[/quote

It takes a while for a Nation to mature, no matter how well intentioned it's leaders are. Cultural and political problems reoccur and America certainly takes the environment for granted. It's citizens should not sufffer for the President's mistakes. He/she should be accountable.
