I've found that it doesn't pay off being dishonest - EVEN if you speak ONLY the truth, people still don't truly understand you, so telling them lies would just complicate everything so much more? How about another option of the poll - honest in what I choose to share, but not exactly pouring my heart out to every stranger that emails?
No reason to lie. But I also know there's such a thing as being too honest. I won't lie if directly asked, but neither will I spill my guts about everything, that's just unecessary.
I have F.A.K.E tattooed across my knuckles for a reason.
EVERYBODY lies about something. Whether it be a little white lie, or a full blown, bold face, lie. A lie is still a lie and it's still deception of the truth.
With that said, I try to be as honest as I can. However there are some skeletons in my closet that I plan to take to the grave and even if you ask you'll never know the honest to god truth about them.
namcazam: I am honest, You do not gain anything trying to be someone your not.
You're wrong, wrong, wrong...!!!!!!
Couple of years ago I spent a week impersonating Kobe Bryant...
When there was talk he may come play for the Toronto Raptors....
You'd have been there with me....
Limousine companies having cars at my disposal, 24/7, eating at the finest restaurants...didn't want me to pay....hotels...the best suites....gratis....
And the women....oh yes...the women...
The jig was up when they took me to the nicest club downtown...and then realized that I couldn't dance hip hop....
for me, I get asked a question, and I'll answer it...no censorship, no holding back, no apologies.
I'm not concerned what other people think of me, or my thoughts...
it's kinda, if you don't wanna know...don't ask.
Same here, Lethal. And I have shared my past very openly on here, which has helped others. I'm not ashamed of who I've been on the road to who I am now. And I'm actually incapable of lying...not to mention that it just seems to be too much work to have to remember what you've told someone if it's not true. I don't worry about what others think of me...you either like me or you don't.
And if you don't want an honest answer to a question, don't ask me. I won't say I'm brutally honest, but if you ask me in person, my face will answer you before I open my mouth. (Hence being incapable of lying. I've been told my face reads like a children's book.)

Ah, not talking about something in your past isn't a lie, though. There are things I'll take to my grave as well. I've made my peace with them, but it doesn't mean I need to tell anyone else about them. So no matter how well someone knows me, there are things they won't know. And I'm okay with the same in return.
And if I'm asked, I don't tell any lies...I just honestly say I'm not going to answer that.
