Big_John: President Reagan ran up the largest national debt in history during his administration. So if you like him, you must like President Obama.
Come on John, you know the Presdient Obama has far surpassed Ron Reagon in deficit spending. Reagon had the Chinese, the Warsaw Pact and the Soviet Union to engage both militarily and geo politically. And he did a pretty good job in both containing them and even breaking two of them.
What does President Obama face on the international scene is like that? Iraq? Iran? NKorea? AlQeada? The Taliban? Iraq has cooled. Iran is self emploding. NKorea is happy with a pic session with Clinton. Pakistan is fighting his war with the Taliban. So all he really has on the international scene is AlQeada.
Yet when they (Congress) gave him the the military funding supplement...they gave him 18.5b per month. President Obama and DEMs were complaining because GWB got 10b a month.
Why give 20 billion bailout to a company thats only worth 2 billion?
What do u think of the situation in iraq now the country is slowly stabilising when do u think the US should exit?
tell ya the truth im conflicted about the bailouts
in my opinion the base problem is education
chipping away at that foundation has led to a many tentacled illness that has a part in us not being an inventive attractive workforce
other countries do things differently than we do i dunno why we are so averse to borrowing ideas that are working
japan uk etc
there are pieces we could be borrowing but if i get into it i get called a socialist which in many ways i am
im sick of the million invisible kids homeless that wont eat tonight and dont attend school in the "greatest nation in the world"
free enterprise has made a smal infitessimal part of our population more wealthy than they and their next 6 generations can spend while a large percentage do without basics and i mean basic basics
its shameful
when people are even then lets go back to capitalism but geez it would be nice if everyone in this so called great country had equal fricking opportunity to eat!!!
I recieved this from my sis-in-law yesterday.I was wondering if anyone else has ever seen this?
Sen. Cornyn Sends Letter To President Obama About "Fishy" Activities Program Sends letter to President Obama expressing grave concern over new White House program to monitor speech of American citizens’ with opposing political views
Wednesday, August 5, 2009
In a letter to President Obama, U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, expressed serious concern about the White House's new program requesting Americans to forward email chains and other communications opposing the President's health care policies. Sen. Cornyn is seeking assurances that the program is being carried out in a manner consistent with the First Amendment and America's tradition of free speech and public discourse. Sen. Cornyn's letter also inquires about the collection of names, email addresses, IP addresses, and private speech of U.S. citizens that will be reported, which raises the specter of a data collection program.
"I am not aware of any precedent for a President asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White House for pure political speech that is deemed ‘fishy' or otherwise inimical to the White House's political interests," Sen. Cornyn wrote. "You should not be surprised that these actions taken by your White House staff raise the specter of a data collection program. As Congress debates health care reform and other critical policy matters, citizen engagement must not be chilled by fear of government monitoring the exercise of free speech rights."

Dear President Obama,
I write to express my concern about a new White House program to monitor American citizens' speech opposing your health care policies, and to seek your assurances that this program is being carried out in a manner consistent with the First Amendment and America's tradition of free speech and public discourse.
Yesterday, in an official White House release entitled "Facts are Stubborn Things," the White House Director of New Media, Macon Phillips, asserted that there was "a lot of disinformation out there," and encouraged citizens to report "fishy" speech opposing your health care policies to the White House. Phillips specifically targeted private, unpublished, even casual speech, writing that "rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation." Phillips wrote "If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."
I am not aware of any precedent for a President asking American citizens to report their fellow citizens to the White House for pure political speech that is deemed "fishy" or otherwise inimical to the White House's political interests.
By requesting that citizens send "fishy" emails to the White House, it is inevitable that the names, email addresses, IP addresses, and private speech of U.S. citizens will be reported to the White House. You should not be surprised that these actions taken by your White House staff raise the specter of a data collection program. As Congress debates health care reform and other critical policy matters, citizen engagement must not be chilled by fear of government monitoring the exercise of free speech rights.
I can only imagine the level of justifiable outrage had your predecessor asked Americans to forward emails critical of his policies to the White House. I suspect that you would have been leading the charge in condemning such a program-and I would have been at your side denouncing such heavy-handed government action.
So I urge you to cease this program immediately. At the very least, I request that you detail to Congress and the public the protocols that your White House is following to purge the names, email addresses, IP addresses, and identities of citizens who are reported to have engaged in "fishy" speech. And I respectfully request an answer to the following:
How do you intend to use the names, email addresses, IP addresses, and identities of citizens who are reported to have engaged in "fishy" speech? How do you intend to notify citizens who have been reported for "fishy" speech? What action do you intend to take against citizens who have been reported for engaging in "fishy" speech? Do your own past statements qualify as "disinformation"? For example, is it "disinformation" to note that in 2003 you said:"I happen to be a proponent of a single-payer universal health care plan"? I look forward to your prompt response.
Sincerely,
JOHN CORNYN
United States Senator
Sen. Cornyn serves on the Finance, Judiciary, Agriculture and Budget Committees. He serves as the top Republican on the Judiciary Committee's Immigration, Refugees and Border Security subcommittee. Yes it is a shame. And i sympathise with what your sentiments.
However i dont think the bailouts can be attributed to a lack of education, but i agree putting the money towards it would definitely be far more beneficial.
There is something to be said of a well educated + informed society

I use to fight these types at punk shows they would roll in and start trying to stomp peoples teeth in,me and my friends would counter attack, think along the lines of world war 2 (On a Smaller Scale) without guns and in the middle of a community center parking lot.
After a few years of that it makes a person fairly quick tempered with those types of people.

I saw some media on this. Basically the White House has a Health Care Public Office that is 'tracking' the public debate that is on going about the legislation.
So if say, the Tea Party members use the net to circulate a petition or some info on it. Or to organize people to attend a town hall. Any material that DEMs or Obama supporters find on the net.....can be sent to the White House.
The question is what becomes of it? Is it investigated? Or used for some black list? or is the list of parties circulated to the Black Panthers and ACORN for political repreisals?
Ok I am joking some. Yes, it has the potential to be a violation of 1st Admendment rigths....assuming the White House acts to supress the parties speech.
