Do you mean simple walk around there abode then go home? No hint of even a nice cup of tea? Are you after an estimate here? Im not in the building trade but ill have a bloody good look at it for you!!

If I don't know them, I wouldn't go to their home nor invite them to mine. No exceptions.
If I have already gotten to know them, it's another situation altogether. Then it's down to whether or not I like what I know about them.
With such an abundance of coffee shops around, why would anyone choose to go to the home of a stranger?
I agree with you J, I don't think I'd feel comfortable in that situation either way. Someone you've chatted with online, on the phone for a lengthy period of time, maybe, but definately not someone you just met off the street or at a bar.
Whenever someone asks to to do something, I always ask them why. So it depends on what type of answer they give. If they given an answer that has me asking another question I will start to get suspicious.
