I know the difference and the diolect do you . I can even Look up friends that live there that I have worked with and would tell you why i know so much about russia . In fact if you were in the american Army you would realize. that the U S A could defeat any Army in the world. But to win a war No One wins in a war wheather nuclear or conventional . everyone looses . Country is a big one. It has gone thru things you and me cannot imagine. From pinning the Brits at Yorktown to crossing the plains to putting man on the moon. If President Obama damages it, it can recover.....Americans are like that. And the country is like that.

The first major Russia weapon sale to Iran.......1987.
With most of the delivery to begin in early .....1990s.
Only the Russian break up occurs.................1991-1992.
CTR are signed with the USA......................1993
First Chechen war begins.........................Dec. 11, 1994
First Chechen war ends...........................Aug. 31, 1996
First major delivery of the 1987 weapon sale to Iran..1997
Second major Russian Weapon sale to Iran.........1997
with delivery in early 2000
Second Chechen war begins........................Aug. 1999
Second Chechen war ends..........................May 2000
The Russian break up would cause the weapon shipments to Iran to be postphoned. The CTR signing would also complicate shipments. The CTR might make illegal such transfers. So Russia could not very well begin to deliver on the Iranian weapons till after the CTR was signed.
But Iran needs the weapons. It has a hungry Sadam Hussien sitting next door in Iraq. It already has fought one war with him. Russia because of the breakup and CTRs has placed a hold on the shipments of Iranian weapons. For how long? Anyones guess there. Iran needs leverage to secure the weapons from Russia.
The leverage is the Chechens. The first conflict breaks out. Note that most of shipments of Russian 1987 weapons sales is not until after this first war ended? A full decade later.
Also look at the kinds of weapons in this package. There is not a Russian light weapon or shoulder fired SAM in the package. The Chechens were using guerrilla warfare tactics....heavy weapons, subs and aircraft did them no good. But to get 30,000 AK-47 and a 1000s Stringer like weapons would. Those Iran did not get in this first weapon sale.
If my theory is right. Putin and Ahmendinejad meet during this first conflict. Likely over these weapons transfers issues. They negotiate the transfer. The Iranians are happy. They pressure the
Chechen to end the conflict. The Russian send the weapons to Iran.
The Chechen conflict ends. Putin is hero of Russia. Ahmendinejad is headed higher in Iranian politics. Both succeeded in their countries interest....and are rewarded..
If this happened this way.....it makes the Iran contra weapon affair with Ollie North and Reagon....small potatoes. Very small potatoes.

Ukraine and Russia are TWO different Countries "Gary". You insist on yammering on about Russia for some reason even though you claim to be a US citizen.
And as far as your age goes you claim to have joined the army at age 17. Given the years you claim things happened you'd have to have been born in 1951 to make those dates work. Were you born in 1961 and 48 years of age that would mean you got some sort of very strange deferment and joined at age 7. Sorry pal you are the one that provided the numbers.
