According to a government official LSD is less harmful than alcohol, cannabis is less harmful than tobacco, so should we reclassify drugs? List them by their harmful properties rather than by the revenue the governments can extort from users.

I would legalize cannabis and criminalize alcohol.

From my own personal experiences, nothing is more dangerous on this planet than alcohol. I have done a lot of things in my time but alcohol has by far been the worst. JMO

I caught a snipet of this on the news here this morning. They are now saying it was wrong to re-classify cannabis with harder drugs. It seems is was over their fear of skunk being introduced which is much stronger. Perhaps they do have our best interests at heart ??

Exactly. It breaks up families, it causes death by automobile accidents, people loose control, the list goes on. I have never seen anyone get crazy with a little weed, or even a lot of weed as far as that goes, not that I would know of course.

SummerUK: I don't use it myself but I'd say alcohol is far more dangerous to an individual and to society. I can't see the logic
The logic is that cannabis can be grown, hence cannot be taxed, while alcohol is manufactured... I know, there's more to this story but I don't feel like spelling it all out

Thanks for all the comments, I agree with the majority, Cannabis should not be classed as worse than tobacco or alcohol. In my view it is no worse than asprin.

Ever tried getting a decent days work out of a dope head? Guess anyone advocating the free use of dope is not in a position having to fork out vast amounts in salaries EARNT.

I disagree that nothing is more dangerous than alcohol, but it is more dangerous than cannabis. Yes, I'd legalize it.

A survey carried out in December 2007 for Norwich Union Healthcare found a third of employees admitting to having been to work with a hangover. 15% reported having been drunk at work. One in ten employees reported hangovers at work once a month, one in twenty once a week. Work problems resulting from hangovers or being drunk at work included difficulty concentrating; reduced productivity; tiredness and mistakes. The majority (77%) of employers interviewed for this survey identified alcohol as a major threat to employee wellbeing and a factor encouraging sickness absence
