Gowanheart: My sisters and I believed until we left home, maybe 17, 18.... and we were so poor, my mama had to give us some of her paltry jewelry for Santa's gifts.....
In all fairness at least you had some supporting evidence ie you got presents every year grin

Well, actually I discovered the truth when I was 4; found the dolly in the attic, where "Santa left it until he could bring it to you." Continued to suspend my disbelief, to please my ignorant parents who naively thought I believed.....hmmmmmm.....

How many people say they believe, but don't practice, don't REALLY believe in the unbelievable????

jbibiza: I had a little chuckle when I read this... I think you´ll find that while many atheists were once believers, it´s pretty rare that it goes the other way...

I've seen it happen... But not on CS and with a younger audience.

You need not be so belligerent; my responses to you were polite. It is obvious that it would just cause more rude behavior from you, so I don't have any reservations letting you go on and on and on and on and on and on. Not a problem!

I think your posts are fantastic but just because one does not agree with your point of view does not tantamount to "admission of failure". Sounds rather like a preacher to non believers.

I sometimes despair of people, 'Religious Zealots' in particular. Do you really think that we, the 'non-believers', are so weak-willed that by reciting a few phrases about 'God loving all of us' and 'if you don't convert you're damned to hell' we'll jump up screaming we've seen the light and march off down to the local church? Nobody except the exceptionally weak-willed are going to change their faith because of a discussion on a forum and to try to convert us is insulting, and those exceptionally weak-willed will probably have had their mind changed by the time they get to the church.

I have absolutely no problem discussing the rights and wrongs of any religion (Atheism included) but for Gods sake treat us like ADULTS.

i haven't changed my mind through forums or long discussions with friends deeply involved with church societies.

i choose to do and live the way i feel is right, and take responsibility for my own actions.

i do not suggest my 'way'is appropriate for everyone.its just my way-and i am happy with my rules for living, which do not include any form of religion.

I thought it was weak to not answer direct question about meditation. Reading what you write is like having the crap bored out of you by a politician. You are one of the.biggest fakes I have seen and of coarse a dueschebag.

Just now read this post. Yes, I know about the killing of innocent women. I don't know if I saw it all (the corruption) I could stand to look at it. But I don't think the Catholic Church is alone in scandal and atrocities. sad flower

This was rife during the middle ages, but also exists in other religions too. But the catholics were relentlessin their pursuit of witches. They went against the grain and what the Catholic Church stood for.

All people sin just because your christian or catholic doesn't mean you will stop, remember an apostile choped off a ear when they were arresting jesus, we are all doing sins, even if jesus was standing right next to you, it is difficult to understand but jesus will fix everything that you mess up
