starrysky: since where has ne where in england had an "affinity" with the irish???
the celtic races are ireland scotland and wales. espically ireland and scotland , since at one time we were joined by a land bridge !!!
Well you are a young girl, so I can forgive you not knowing about the LIVERPOOL affinity with Ireland and that during the potato famine the Irish came to Liverpool and hence the majority of people in Ireland call Liverpool the second capital of Ireland. Ask your mammy, she will tell you. Read about the potato famine and the links my city has to your country.

Not a debate at all. I am stating my point as a person from Liverpool, just look at the Liverpool surnames that you know. Heck, I lived for years in stab City and never had a problem with the Irish so not gonna start to know.

I'm Irish, in the context that I was born in Ireland, but I think the idea of 'being' Irish or any nationality for that matter is bull. I'm only Irish because my parents chose to stay here. Obviously people are shaped by their surroundings and culture, but I don't think it's that important anymore. We don't drink green beer. Most people hate traditional music. We're not all alcoholics. We don't all enjoy fighting. The are no leprachauns or banshees. We don't drive around in a horse & cart. We're kind of west British or east American.

Exactly, you really have to live there to appreciate the people and the way of life.
