Arlene101: Well no, I am not fond of the lightening, but at my age, when the thunder maked me jump and heart pound, that is just as exciting as what I used to be GETTING! I had a date last night for "Blue Rodeo" and it was a great time.
A date??? What's that? Ohhhhh one of those dried fruit things all sticky and sweet...
Scottishlass: So who likes to sit with that someone special and listen to a thunderstorm booming outside?? i know i do..
or how many of you find it frightening and can't wait for it to be over??
Absolutely thrilling, and maybe a tiny bit intimidating, when you consider the Power. Seen some really imposing ones over in the Westindies, also some serious ones in Eastern Italy, camped there sometimes in the sixties.

I Love A Rainy Night
Well, I love a rainy night I love a rainy night I love to hear the thunder Watch the lightning When it lights up the sky You know it makes me feel good
Well, I love a rainy night It's such a beautiful sight I love to feel the rain On my face Taste the rain on my lips In the moonlight shadow
Showers washed All my cares away I wake up to a sunny day 'Cos I love a rainy night Yeah, I love a rainy night Well, I love a rainy night Well, I love a rainy night
My Man used to cover mirrors and unplug everything, we would be hungry, cold and in the dark ...
I can find logic in unplugging things but can't for the mirror, could you explain why he would cover the mirrors? superstition of some kind? I like thunderstorms but not lightening storms,as long as you are with that special someone it is romantic
Romantic, especially if the power goes out, oh.. and dispite thinking this is immature, i'd love a man who will dance in the pouring rain with me.............

When I was in Iowa I was eating in a restaurant and there were 9 tornados hitting within a 4 mile radius... everyone was huddled in a hallway in the middle of the restaurant...where was the crazy woman from California?... At the front door with a camera trying to get a picture!
Well, nothing would have happened to any of you,not with that woman around. We have a saying here, that Luck is with the Stupid, and being that close to someone as Stupid as that, everyone would have been totally safe.

If she's a "Little Wrathy",but sitting behind Shutters for 12-18 hrs in a 100Mi+ Hurricane ain't no fun anymore. Add to that a Foot or more Rain, you'll have a Recipe for a possible Disaster.

Well you may be right, I've done a lot of things in my life that some would call stupid and I've been lucky... I can sit here able to tell the stories and relive the adrenaline rushes and know that when I go to my grave I won't be saying... I wish I would have... I'd have like to have seen...
I think that a thunderstorm can be totally romantic. On one of the first dates that I had with my new girlfriend, we were walking down the beach about a half mile from our car and it started to storm. We ended up sitting under a restaurant on the beach until it passed over. (About 2 hours) it was really kewl to watch the lightning out over the ocean. Much different than the time I was out in the ocean on a 30 ft sailboat in a lightning storm. It struck the mast and took out all of our instruments. talk about an expensive sail. It cost about $4000 before everything was fixed, and I did all the work myself. That was scary!

Ah, I have a fantasy about this happening, then we run inside and get warmed up!
