jbibiza: Fortunately I am in Santa Eulalia and NOT in San Antonio, it's a British Hell Hole there... the worst of the worst... but at least we keep them all in one place leaving the rest of the island to civilized people.

Hi to everybody!

A few years ago i nearly moved to Teneriffe to escape the moron culture that is now rife here on the UK.When i saw what and how the Brits lived and behaved there at beach level i thought i better run to where the spanish lived further up the mountain at Adeje.

The climate was better, the people were nice it was completely different from the coast!! My conclusion was i would end up wanting to kill English tourists importing egg and chips and British beer when so close to Africa!!

I ask you, all that way to eat egg and chips on holiday and get drunk!! What a**hole!! They were too stupid to even order paella there!

Circumstances changed and i couldnt go in the end....but at least i wasn't known to the local police as a serial killer when i left.

Bartenders can already be held liable for serving some one that is obviously drung.

The individual them selves SHOULD BE RESPONSBILE, but they are UNDER THE INFLUENCE!

Bartenders are not, and should make a judgement.

For the charge of Murder- there has to be INTENT.

This is a form of NEGLIGENT HOMICIDE- because of flagrant NEGLIGENCE!

It is like driving and not paying attention, or killing some one while you drive under the influence.

This would make a statement to bartenders and owners of establishments. Trust me they can be sued.conversing

bodleing: This is why i avoid places like Maramris.
The last time i went to Turkey i didnt
come across a single person who was
worse for wear due to drink.
But this could be due to the fact that in
the time i spent there i met only four Brits.
Plenty of Americans, Canadians and Aussies,
all having a great time, without abusing
their hosts or people around them.

I would be ashamed to mingle with some of
the British morons who roam the Costas' and
Med resorts.
To be honest as the deals get cheaper the quality of people coming here has dropped over the past 3 yrs. I don't resent anyone having a good time ,i drink but they loose self repect and pride. On a night out last year i found a girl in the toilet of a night club with her friend collapsed on the floor being sick. She was 14 yrs old !! It was 2 am in the morning here parents were at the hotel, i got a taxi and took them to hotel where i was verbally abused because i asked for the taxi money. !!! And these people are parents ???

very mad

You are so right! I live in Murcia city centre....no Brits except a handful of teachers perhaps, but in the summer I sometimes visit the coast and I loathe the 'Little Britain' enclaves I've found. Now I know where to go to avoid them and mix with the Spanish people as I do in my normal day to day life working in Murcia.

I've met Brits who have lived in Spain for 20 years and cannot speak a word of Spanish! But then why would they? They build their little communities and arrogantly expect their Spanish neighbours to understand them. If they don't understand they SHOUT as if their neighbours were deaf! It's like watching a sketch from Fawlty Towers sometimes....embarrassing!

Hiya.. criminal liability would be taking it a bit far certainly... civil liability though.. might help focus some minds.. as would encouraging people to drink responsibly... though it has to be said.. people who are already quite drunk.. are not necessarily in the best position to make wise choices.. Here in most of Canada I've found that the serving staff are often just as intoxicated as the patrons. It's become a custom of sorts for people to buy their waitress or bartender a shot or drink and at the end of the evening it's hard to say who's in better shape.laugh

I can't see holding staff or bar owners responsible. If I go out and have a few drinks, it's me that chose to do it. Ultimately I hold myself responsible for my actions even if I am under the influence.

Yeah, your are absolutely right, Civil. But I do feel that it is negligence.handshake Just got carried away there, I hate it when a young life is lost, senselessly.

I hope she haunts that pub, lol.

Maybe cheap availability has something to do
with exporting hordes of idiots to foreign climes,
but i think i runs deeper than that.
After all, where i stayed it cost me £12.50 per night
including all my food. Didnt seem to entice the morons
though.

But getting back on topic, the op stated that her friends
and the bartender encouraged her to drink more.
If that was indeed the case then surely the bartender
at least should be held in some way culpable.
Although you cant expect bar owners or staff to monitor
thier customers at all times, you would expect if someone
was obviously worse for wear, no further drinks would be
supplied to them, let alone encourage them.

Amazing isn't it all the way to Turkey to play bloody bingo!! They should have stayed home in Royal Tonbridge Wells or Clacton or where ever they came from.

Can't we please remove these peoples right to be able to travel.Lets start with an easy denominator, if there wearing a football shirt when there trying to check in at the airport, confiscate their passport take their dogs from them and rehome them and send them to Blackpool on holiday.

I bet, i bet they were laughing so much as the people had no talent whatsoever but thought they were great!

It's amazing how truly clueless and embarrassing the scum of this country can make us all look abroad.

Right off for a sing song sounding like a strangled goose.....more like relocate laptop up stairs in the bedroom!

The people we are talking about here are
creatures of habit.
They habitually get drunk, curse and swear,
make inapropriate gestures, fight amongst
themselves (and others) and genearally
piss off everyone around them.

Fortunately they habitually frequent the same
places, so they are easy to avoid.
I just feel sorry for the people who are stuck
with them, for whatever reason.

I think people are lonely; because they've lost someone and don't get over it; because they witnesses something horrific; because they have done something they can't forgive themselves for; because they have a hard time socializing; because it makese them feel good, or at least better than they felt before; because they are sad, depressed, or anxious for whatever reasons, etc.

I don't hate or blame people for drinking, but I think that when a person drives drunk, the penalty should be severe, depending on the circrumstances.

My brother was killed by a drunk driver.

cheers

riyablossom: I have heard and read about that .. how they maintain even beyond an age of 70 - 75 .. real neat !!

But i wonder still.. alcohol poisoning .. means proper ethyl alcohol cosumed generally rite ? just confirming..

Excessive alcohol consumption is the third leading preventable cause of death in the United States (1) and is associated with multiple adverse health consequences, including liver cirrhosis, various cancers, unintentional injuries, and violence. To analyze alcohol-related health impacts, CDC estimated the number of alcohol-attributable deaths (AADs) and years of potential life lost (YPLLs) in the United States during 2001. This report summarizes the results of that analysis, which indicated that approximately 75,766 AADs and 2.3 million YPLLs, or approximately 30 years of life lost on average per AAD, were attributable to excessive alcohol use in 2001. These results emphasize the importance of adopting effective strategies* to reduce excessive drinking, including increasing alcohol excise taxes and screening for alcohol misuse in clinical settings.

75,766 is a lot of people.

Interesting thread.

I'm perhaps a little over-sensitive to it - I ride motorcycles often, which means a minor fender-bender is unlikely. I don't even bother being on two wheels on Friday and Saturday nights.

People, of course, will never accept responsibility for their own actions. It's always someone, something, else. Sad, this.smoking
