BlainX: I'm from Oz and willing to fight to keep it that way... This is for the men that fought in WWI And WWII
Great granddad came here in 1892 from finland. Granddad was born here and he and his brother fought in WW1. Dad was born here and he and his brother and two brothers in law served in WW2. My brother and I were born here and both served in Vietnam. Aussie through and through.
My Dads grandfather emigrated from Ireland with his German wife and 7 kids in the late 1800s. My Grandfather served in the WW1 and was a Lighthorseman who went on to become a member of the Home Police, now know as the federal Police. He was a wonderful man.
My mums ancestors emigrated as free settlers in the 1800s from England and were graziers in NSW.
So Irish German English Aussie is where I come from.
From what I can work out... My great great great great great great great great Grand pappy was an English Doctor... (probably Jack The Rippers friend..LOL)
On the other side was my great great grand pappy was born in Shanghi China!!!

On Dad's side we know for sure, Maori with whakapapa way, way, way back before we arrived in NZ, Scottish (one was king of scotland) & English. Mum's side no one is 100% sure but definitely scottish (owned the hotel on shores of lake Tarawera when volcano blew in 1800's), english they think Russian Jew & few bits & bods thrown in.
When going back through Dad's fathers tree then dad's half brother's (my uncle's dad married his cousin - dad's Mum then had two kids my uncle & auntie) we found that Uncles line was one of us from same bloody village in south of scotland or north of england. talk about connections.
Not quite as juicy as kizzy's but you they are all interesting.
so what am I these days. on census I always put Part Maori New zealander which really upsets the bureaucrats over here.

My great great grandparents arrived in Aussie from Ireland in 1842. I also have Scottish and English ancestry. Going back further, I also have a tad piece of French...
