It´s very difficult to finish with someone, particularly if you are someone with feelings and respect for others, and you know they will be upset, but everybody deserves some kind of explanation, face to face preferably.

Not true imo, face to face has to be better and fairer, though much more difficult. I would imagine people get more mad if they´re dumped in the heartless ways described in the OP. The lawn could be the least of your problems!

True.... from your perspective because you were the one who was breaking up, I guess For her perspective, being dumped is better in person, since she gets a chance to kick you in the nuts

Easy......Phone his/her Partner, and tell them to tell their partner that they had better get round to your place and pick their gear up as you have dumped it outside......AND IT'S OVER.... Via a public sports event on a large screen monitor. Could be costly tho.
