demonfairy: If you have checked lately some of the stuff in a dollar store is higher then the grocery store,im afraid theres not much there for a dollar any more..
Some of the food products are really gross too esp the breakfast cereals. A lot of the canned vegies are loaded with salt too. What dollar stores do you have in your area? We have,
Dollar General
Dollar Tree
Family Dollar
Big Lots

Then there's always Walmart which has decent prices.
I had a membership to Costco for a while but there's no savings with big box stores, they just pack everything in larger quantities. Who needs a 5 lb can of mustard or a 25 lb sack of brown rice?

outdoorgirlsun: could you sell those to me. They are so in style here. Or better yet, give them to me. You'd be doing something very nice.
I hate shopping. I only go if I really need something. I go in and I get it and I'm out. Including groceries. I don't browse, look, I don't even try clothes on. If they don't fit, I'd rather take them back, than stay in that store ten more minutes.
I always buy on sale. 99.9% of the time.
you know your right i walked past a trendy clothing store and saw what looked to be my jeans in the window holes in them and faded wash @ 3 times the amount i paid for mine,go figure!

I don't really enjoy shopping unless I have lots of money to spare, which is not the norm! Usually I know exactly what I need, and will walk around until I find it, then leave. I have quite a good eye for what will look good on me, so often will see something, know it will work for me, try it on then leave. Sometimes it's expensive, other times not.... Not into brand names at all. It's about what looks good, not the brand.

From the Woodie Allen movie, "The Front" (1976)

Florence Barrett: I was very well bred - the kind of family where the biggest sin was to raise your voice.

Howard Prince: Oh yeah? In my family the biggest sin was to pay retail.

You also, have to watch for where the item is made. We have found that what we thought to be American toothpaste (labeled the same) but was made in China (no offense to China), but there was an ingredient in it that the US had to pull from shelves. Just check some labels sometimes and see.
