but these two profiles snap and cut at people all the time for no apparent reason. they really don't seem to like the love either!

Yes, you are too suspicious. Here are a few points to think about: Wanting to remain somewhat anonymous on the internet is reasonable and valid. Many have had tough breaks they don't want repeated. Not all of us are photogenic. (I don't "take" a good picture--neither did my aunt, and also two of my best friends. It happens.) If we were blind, would it matter? Too much emphasis on what one looks like. See people for their heart, their warmth. Ever see the movie "Shallow Hal"? It's a good 'n.

when someone has no pic and doesn't want to share it on this site it usually means supplying a mail address and unless you know the person...you don't really want to give your personal email details.

But after all, still dont't really get whats the big deal about, unless someone has techical difficulties with uploading pics. And still prefer exchange mails with someone with a pic, then just a square box or a landscape..

Dating's a physical thing and there has to be some physical attraction for a full relationship to be possible or develop. If someone has a a pic you can't necessarily say that you will fancy the person, but you can usually tell if you could or couldn't.
And faceless boxes belong to faceless people, trolls, trolls with multiple spoof profiles, cheats and very very ugly people. Not that I'm saying that all people who don't show a pic are any or all of those; but that the cheats, trolls, trolls with multiple spoof profiles and ugly people inevitably don't post their own photographs - and usually no pic at all.
now ask him/her to be on CAM! that's how you prevent SCAMMERS. you check out if the person matches his/her profile and is for REAL. good luck!

Hi Eclipse & Ladybee--I sure understand the need to be careful,and I'm going to tell you something that's running through my mind right now. I have made connections with another member, also does not have his pic up, and we are very likely going to meet in a week or so. Now, I have been around the block, etc... and am fully aware of the risk factor, etc... but you know, I think this guy is genuinely kind, nice, and it does make me uneasy to be taking a chance, but that's what we have to do sometimes. We've been "talking" for awhile now, he's kinda rustic, down to earth, so would be a possible good friend for me. We can't be so afraid we never take a chance, or learn to dance, or learn to live, as the song goes--* feel free to mother me a little. * "The Rose"

They can put together a collection of their photos into any free image hosting facilities on the web (like Shutterfly for instance) and send you a url(link) to your CS email account.

I didnt have a pic up when i joined first but I did save one as an ecard on here and sent that when asked. No need to give email addresses out that way.
