You are correct. Most people that commit Capital crimes are in their 20’s and 30’s. They have not grown up yet. There are many instances though where the older and retired go bonkers.
Near where I live in Ohio, an aged man could not keep his temper. He was articulate about his lawn. When school children walked home, they would walk across his lawn for a shortcut. He decided one day to shoot and kill one of them.
Because of his age, he is just in Prison. This was decided by a Judge, no death penalty.
Alzheimers and dementia a different animal........where was his family?????
johnaustin123: His only family was his wife leigh2154
Yes! Brain disease is a major factor among the elderly.
This was another case in Northeast, Ohio.
The wife of an elderly man was terminally ill. She had to go into the Hospital for her final days. Her Husband went berserk.
This was at Hillcrest Hospital.
On a visit, he had a gun. (How he was able to get a gun into a Hospital is speculation)
He shot and killed (2) Nurses on the way. When he got to his wife's room, he shot and killed her first, and then killed himself.
Yes, I know that case..........................and I was working in a nursing home here in Tennessee at the time. It was terrible. A friend of mine had just transferred there and was on duty when the shootings happened. She came to visit us the next day and was still shaking. Maybe we are not talking about the same case, this one happened in Knoxville????? Wonder.............. does the act of murder breed thought of doing murder in others?
i have to say i support the death penalty. even through dont think it stops anyone from killing someone. there has to be a price you pay for taking someones life.
I see you are in Ohio. Were you able to get that wiped off your record? Here, in some West coast states, you can have those kinds of citations removed after a certain time. (Otherwise you cannot apply for any civil service jobs with city, county or state, and that was deemed unconstitutional by law, so they amended it by allowing for the record "removal". There's a catch, if you do it again in a particular time frame, the original charge re-sticks, and it is then permanent.
longest i every was in jail. was for contempt of court during a divorce hearing. at the time pissed me off. but now 23 years later i done me good. i spent about 12 months in the country jail. all i would have had to do was apologize to cuss for cussing them out. and resisting arrest. would have let me out.
I had (1) other incident of a (1) day jail time in 1999.
My ex-wife and I were not getting along. We had an argument.
I went to bed to sleep it off. In the meantime, she called the Police and said that I hit her, which didn't happen. I was arrested for this false report of Domestic Violence.
In Ohio, once you are arrested for Domestic Violence, even the accuser cannot drop the case.
After paying my Attorney $5000, and many hours in anger management, a few months later I was found totally innocent by a Judge and he wiped it off of my record.
This is money and time that I will never get back.
i use to be against death penalty. but when timothy McVeigh blow up building in Oklahoma. way i see it. you got a problem with the government . dont take it out innocent children.
John, can I ask you a question or two? How long have you been on this site? Are you on here for forums only? Just curious................................Leigh

CS is my favorite, because the people here are smarter.
I have been on CS for a couple of months.
Other International websites include 3rd world nations. That is a problem. All of them scam for money. It is rather funny because they all somehow (Given by their Government) are able to have high speed internet and cell or mobile phones.
Go figure; they want money to pay their electric and water bills but will not give up their internet.
That is why I like CS. They keep the scammers out.

I am new, 1 wk. Joined this and one other the same day. I keep coming back to this one because it is more interesting. Moved from Columbus Ohio to TN 7 years ago. Very different social venue here. First year was hard, I missed my buddies, my hangs, my stuff. Scammers abound here too, but very easy to recognize. You know
johnaustin123: Are you in favor or disfavor of the Death Penalty, or are you in between? In the USA, it varies from State to State with Texas, Ohio and Florida being the strongest to support the Death Penalty.
What do you believe? Some people say that it is a much more punishment to leave the Criminal in prison for life. The families of the victims think otherwise.
It takes many years and many appeals to finally put the convicted to death. This is a very heavy load on the tax payer.
Some people (including the Police) believe that the person should be shot to death on site. That is not a fair way to go about it either. They may be innocent and deserve a fair trial.
I voted in certain circumstances.
Death Penalty by Iran is "barbaric, regressive and should be protested" .But death penalty by the US is okay .
Hi Jon and thank you, That is a very good question and one I have pondered over over the years. Homeless people can always be housed and the untended can always be tended to. Some are not always fortunate to have the stable upbringing many take for granted.
Rehabilitate those that can be and want to be for starters rather than just locking them up. Governments and other agencies spend thousands rehabilitating wildlife etc yet human rehabilitation and mental health never gets that kind of funding. As for the criminally insane that can not be helped, apart from praying for them I am yet to find an acceptable solution.
I haven't seen John Carpenters movie Escape from New York though dare say it is an extreme view of the topic otherwise you would not have posted it ..
Would be interested to hear your opinions on the subject..
My opinion is that the mentally ill should be taken off of the streets by the wealthy that does contribute to this cause because of tax purposes for Charity.
We have very many homeless shelters in the USA that provide food and shelter, much provided by US Government support.
What the USA Government does is try to educate them to find a job.
