Rolltide8102: See that is what I am worried about I know someone with a very hyper 7 year old that is his big christmas. He is your true 100% boy hunting, fishing, enjoys destroying anything he gets his hands on just to see if it breaks. I am so worried about him I think of him as the son I dont have. His parents got MAD when I questioned if he was old enough to handle something like that.
Well, If hes not he will have it taken apart or broken in a week so no worries
oh please, if you are talking about those little electronic cars that go 5mph, if an adult is watching, depending on the maturity you can let them try it if they are ready at 4years old. Kids are waaaaaay more intellegent that we were nowadays. I dont know how I made it through half the things I did lol

Yes I am sure if he has one hospital worthy wreck there are several people that will make that thing dissapear with out a trace. Things get misplaced all the time right.

whenever a child is mentally and physically ready.......if your a mom then you know. Geeeeezus my 18 year old prolly still runs out in the middle of the road without looking for cars!!! btw......he takes after his father!!
I live in four-wheeling country. In fact there is a state 4 wheeling park not too far from where I live (about 1 mile). They ride up my street often and I often find that there is no one monitoring what is really going on. There is laws, but somehow they are ignored. They are driven on the streets where other cars are on occasion. I have witnessed several accidents with adults and children. I think you shouldn't be able to ride any motor vehicle without having a license to do so. Children and some adults are not cognitively developed enough to handle a responsibility. And it is a responsibility. Some knowledge of the rules of the road even a dirt one should be attained first. Just my thoughts.
What it boil down to for me is children all differ in maturity and responsibilities they can accept . Motorized vehicles of any sort all carry risks true the question is do you think the child in question can truly accept those reposibilities to make a good choice of course if so they need all the proper safety equipment and maybe either someone to teach them or the courses they offer to teach safety we cant wrap our children i wool until they are adults we are here to help them make informed decisions when they are ready to handle the responsibilities that go with it.
demonfairy: My daughter had one at 6,but she had a cousin to teach her how to ride it,and safety rules. They had a safe place to ride and helmets,it teaches them motor skills and is a lot of fun for the child, but not so much for the worrying parent. They come in all sizes, ask the sales man which one is right for your child.
time4fun4u: Depends on the child. Some have more practical skills than others.I wouldnt suggest anything over 50cc anyway, and you could have that restricted to make it slower. As said, instruction by a qualified person, supervision and on private ground are a good idea.
when they are old enough to save up and buy one themselves?
even if they are at the age when they think they are indestructable, they sure the hell ain't going to wreck something that took forever to save up for.

Agreed! And a small version of T-34 Mod. Hekid, with a cup holder and a CD Player. Let kids play!
