Earlier tonight I learned of a 13 Australian boy that when offer a rope to the safety of a rescue helo in the midst of the vast floods. He refused and gave it to his younger brother. When the helo returned, both he and his mother had been swept away.
Acts of self sacrificing charity and love in moment of danger and threat. "What greater love", Jesus once spoke, "than to lay down one life". Scripture was quoted a lot tonight. So were a South West Indian tribe blessing for a return to peace and harmony.
This Sunday a traveling pastor at my Church spoke of the 6 in Tucson. He said they were just doing their normal daily lives and then in moment taken to be face to face with God. None know this time.

The Iraqi military is requesting a US present...to protect its borders......my my does that not sound like the same reason that US forces are in South Korea?

How thin will Obama adm stretch the rubber band before it breaks? Cindy, realists were saying that back in 2008. Is it was going to be more time than the 2011-12 time that the DEM were saying.
But like Afghanistan, Iraq still has some major problems to resolve. Look how long it took form a government post the election.
But really it is their border security issues with Syria and Iran now. They are in a mutual defense agreement. Meaning...if the Kurds of the north go into Iran on a raid....both Syria and Iran can cooperate in military operations on Iraq. That is only a example.
The tension seems to be in Northern Iraq. So it might be we stay in the northern 1/3 for a extended time...leaving lower 2/3rds.
We are to 47,000 troops now. So leaving....20,000-25,000 in the country..like the speed bumps of South Korea....makes allot of sense here.
We paid a price in Iraq. Both to remove Sadam and to set democracy into the country. As tragic as the lose of life has been....having Iran or Syria take major areas and people of Iraq.....is going to destabilize the region more. That is exactly what Iran wants.
