Juneau: This is to all the ladies (although I am sure that all the guys will have plenty to say too!! )Do you like it or loath it when your guy calls you sweetie, honey, baby, sugar, babe, darling etc If so, which ones do you like and which ones do you loath? I can't stand "babe" but years ago when an American boyfriend of mine used to call me "baby", I loved it!! How fickle the female of the species is eh? ..... Or is that just me
I get honey..baby..gorgeous..beautiful..from my husband.. Dont like sugar..mam...I loathe being called mam..he knows that and he is from the south..even though being respectful..i just really really hate that

Juneau: Well, put it this way....when you are all bundled up in your layers in the winter, they never say anything, but in the summer, when you've got your shorts and tee shirt on, THEN they shout out to you! Grrrrrrrrr

Silly me I forgot about those!! I like them too!!!
You got that right!! (and that last one -never noticed before- looks like Ma'am... don't care for that one unless it's teenagers being respectful- but for an endearing name - NO!)
nette90: Thankfully no I'd never heard of bub before my current bf and im not really sure what it means, but the way he says it makes me melt.... but I guess thats what counts!!!
That's good to know! And yes, I've had some very unusual, never-heard-before terms of endearment, that really were dear(oh, there's another one I wouldn't like- dear )
But like you said, the way he says it... can melt you in a second

Happygolucky4u: If it is from someone dear to me no problem. Someone I don't know well. Well not such a good thing ...
When my partner uses an endearment, that is nice. It is not all the time and there are a few favorite ones, and it's nice. I absolutely loath it if a man I am not in a relationship with calls me honey or dear. It's a totally different thing and seems patronizing and demeaning.

I do like it, but I prefer that he has a special name for me.
I dated a guy once who called me darling, which I thought was lovely, until I realised that he used it for every female he met. Women who served him at the grocery store, female marketing survey people on the phone...he was a lovely guy I might add, but it bothered me a little.
