I have smoked "pot" for the past 32 yrs almost daily..I can honestly say not once in my life has anyone(not even the police) ever noticed if Ive been under the influence..I raised two lovely kids on my own..I studied for 4 yrs and gained a degree in social work..I worked in lots of care practices over the years (never under the influence)..my home is always immaculate ...it has never caused me or anyone one I know to fight or hallucinate ..ever.. I gave up pot on the 1st of january this year the reason being I had become housebound and was having difficulty buying it..but I have had no withdrawals at all ...do you think I could have managed the same if it had been alcohol..no chance...

I have a friend in the states that uses it because it's the only thing that works for his anxiety problems...
The various anti-anxiety drugs (you know, the LEGAL ones pharma companies make so much money from) really messed with his head when he was prescribed them.

the stuff that I was buying was total crap here..most of it was plastic and I got fed up throwing my money away to unscrupulous dealers..I may go back on it when Im up and about again but after 32 yrs i think I can safely say its not an addictive...aggresive..drug...people have these problems in their personality to begin with...they would probably react the same with most drugs/alcohol

As for the addictive aspect, I find carbs with sugar (or chocolate) a hell of a lot more addictive than any weed I've ever tried (and I only get the hydroponic pure stuff.. basically strongest thing they have that produces a clear high -- the stronger it is the less I have to use thus the less I have to smoke for whatever effect).
daisy333: I don't have an ethical problem with people who smoke marijuana; it's their choice and it's mainly legal in Australia if you only keep small quantities around.
I don't smoke dope so I'm not sure how you classify a casual user. I guess it's like a casual ciggerette smoker, in that you only smoke when someone offers you a ciggerette and you never buy your own. That's probably okay with me. Unless of course, all his friends were dope heads, in which case, he'd be accepting joints all day.
The truth is that it's very common, probably more common even within my own circle of acquaintances than I probably realise.
So if l was pulled over by the police and they found a small amount in my car l wouldnt be charged with possesion of a drug?

since stopping 3 months ago I have went from needing 5 pills a day to needing 21 pills(prescribed)...much prefered the self medication.. ..but dont want to put others at risk by asking them to buy it for me..so will do without and see how I feel at the end of my chemo if I want to continue smoking or not..but I have not experienced any withdrawals from it

I am so sorry you're in this situation. People going through what you are now is the very reason it got legalized in California.
Hypocrisy like the laws and BS propaganda concerning marijuana ends up causing real hardship to so many like you.
No l wouldnt date a casual user...lm all for it being used as medication for cancer patients ect; but as legal use. For me ilegal is ilegal...therefore wrong. And before anyone asks l dont smoke or drink either...never have.
Pot affects everyone differently. I have no problem with it, in fact the governments need to find a way to legalize it, tax it and profit from it.
The next question is would you date someone is is in chronic pain and has to take pain medication daily? Is it different than smoking pot Nope. The only difference is drug companies make the drugs legal. Another form of control.

GotTrance: Casual marijuana use is harmless. So why not date a casual user?
I don't have a problem with marujuana, per se, but I do have a problem with the lies that substance misusers are maybe inclined to tell in order to hide their usage.
By substance misuser, I mean someone who uses psychoactive substances in an unhealthy self-, or other destructive way.
I've been caught out that way before. I thought my daughter's father was a casual pot smoker, but he lied and covered up all the other pies he had his fingers in.
I came awfully close to homelessness, went hungry for years (I took on his debts in order to get him to leave), but most of all he betrayed our daughter and broke her heart.
I'd be wary because of that, not because I think an ocassional reefer is the work of the devil, or anything.
