Jeeepers: I know, I've googles Sliema and St.Julians....you youngsters missed the good days...but even then it seemed overpopulated !! There were 350,000 on the island.
i didn't miss the good days. I grew up in the 70s, swimming in pristine seas, clean and deserted beaches, countryside, camping, boat trips to inacessible bays, playing in the streets. When I started going to Paceville in the 80s most of the clubs were just opening. It was fab. BTWwe're still around 400,000 now.
cynicalorange: Bit of both for me on your poll options. A couple of nights a week, I would want to be going out together, and I'm content the rest of the week for staying in.
I like to stay in and go out But I really do not care for going out all the time. I work full time and like to stay in and rest during the week and maybe plan a outting for one of the weekend days.
Are you still able to breathe after all that invasion of offers you must have had with this comment?
If you add "shopping" to the list, you're close to perfection!
Jeeepers: I wouldn't mind staying in, as long as I get to cook and do the dishes and make sure she has everything she needs, along with a deep massage and chocolate strawberries and stuff like that.

I taught a buddy's daughter how to weld, she found it to be a lot of fun. Not just the welding, but the fabrication, and the creativite aspects of it. She liked learning how to do something different, and gained a bit more confidence in challenging herself to try whatever she wanted.

Now you've got my arty farty side all in a dither.
missingLondon: it's unrecognizable now. Highrise buildings, you have to fight for parking space and tons of clubs concentrated in one area. You saw malta at its best in the 70s. It's over developed now.
I lived there from 1963 to 1967 and witnessed a nation gain it's independence. I remember the communist PM., Mintoff managing to blackmail the US into $80million so as not to allow Russia establish a nuclear base there - strangely enough, the people never saw a cent of that money. When I returned 35 years later I couldn't believe the destruction of all that beautiful architecture along Tower Road in Sliema and elsewhere - nothing but hotels. It had all the hallmarks of a country making a fast entry into economics with no planning whatsoever. Beautiful Georgian architecture destroyed forever - what were they thinking - not to mention that God-awful tower in Paceville, adjacent to the Hilton. At least the development at Tigne seems to have some semblance of intelligence, both in design and content. But no matter what they do to Malta, it will always be 'home' to me, even though I'm not Maltese. I'm not sure I could stay indoors 7 nights a week though, not with all those lovely restaurants available .....ohhh well .... back to dreaming of times past.

missingLondon: I was speaking to a female friend yesterday who said what she wants is someone who'll watch TV with her. That surprised me as I craved for that with my ex but he wasn't interested. Reading men's profiles I get the impression that men are into the outdoors and some women would prefer a night in. Any men out there who enjoy staying in pottering around the house and snuggling etc. ?
I dare say that many men would like to find a woman like that; it would be a welcome change to the tedious and seemingly endless nights out bar and club hoping and the usual dancing frenzies that many women crave as their way to 'being alive'. I found that it all gets rather boring , never mind expensive; it all becomes superfluous as if all relationships depend on that hectic lifestyle that seems more and more like a duty and obligatory. Many seem to regard staying home, watching movies, cooking, shopping in markets together, going on picnics or god forbid, going to art galleries and museums or even riding the ferry boats as something approaching senility for only the decrepit... From what I've seen of the world and experienced, I take the above any day. Hell with the world at large, I don't need it or its frenetic pace to be as proof of life.
Me, I can't stand watching tv especially in the Spring and Summer. I want to be outside whether its just walking, cycling, or working in the yard. Nothing like getting some fresh air and exercise. I kept on meeting couch potatoes that just guzzle beer and watch tv. Yawn; how boring is that?
I know...boring...in the summer I will sit on my horse till dark or later. Take my Bulldog out for a walk. If I am tired I will rent a clean movie and rest. Mostly I am very busy.
