RE: The key to ending Ukraine's conflict

No it's NOT violence, you don't get to play games with the English language.

Your view of the past is absurd, living quality today is much better than it ever was before in the western world (that is not opinion but fact).
Take off those rose tinted glasses of yours and you might see that the West is not so bad!

RE: The key to ending Ukraine's conflict

As I said, I don't condone anyone going naked in public and it should not happen.

Having said that I would say that children would be more damaged by seeing extreme violence than they would by seeing a naked person.

RE: The key to ending Ukraine's conflict

I would be totally against public nudity, except maybe on isolated beaches. All I can say is that the pride marches in Ireland have been tasteful and restrained.
There is something more shocking than that however and that's the brutal attack on a pride march in Belgrade about 20 years ago by a group of fascists (Luke types), I'm sure that's somewhere on the net as well.

RE: The key to ending Ukraine's conflict

If it did happen I think it would have made big news and been widely reported on.

RE: The key to ending Ukraine's conflict

What's the obsession with trans issues?
I have never seen a naked person at a gay pride gathering.
'forced' to watch.....really? Someone is forcing you to watch? If you don't want to watch then don't. Simple as that.

The only young people being mutilated in Europe today are the poor unfortunate soldiers from both sides fighting in Putin's war.

RE: The key to ending Ukraine's conflict

If by 'in line' you mean sacrificing its young men and persecuting its gay people then yes he keeps it in line.

RE: The key to ending Ukraine's conflict

Well we don't refer to a woman as 'it' anyway. We have better manners than that.

RE: The key to ending Ukraine's conflict

thumbs up

RE: The key to ending Ukraine's conflict

They aren't 'sizing up' for anything, they are considering the possibility of having to defend themselves against Russian aggression.

RE: The key to ending Ukraine's conflict

I agree to some extent with your first point but your second point....you can't be serious.

RE: The key to ending Ukraine's conflict

Only one person is responsible for this tragic war and that is the brutal tyrant who decided to invade Ukraine.

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

Well that's ok then but just one thing, you should put a note at the beginning of your blogs that you will only converse with people who agree with you, that would have saved us both from wasting our time.

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

So you think you're entitled to have views free from challenge?
This me feiner thing is really funny, I want us to play our part in the world, while you want to shut the doors, and you call me a me feiner?
I notice you haven't addressed any of the points I made, all you can do is insult. Migration is part of our heritage, how many of our people worked/ are working in America illegally? would you like to see them rounded up and sent home?
You seem to have a very short memory.

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

What have the people who died for our independence got to do with the issue of immigration?
It's ironic you calling me a me feiner given that I want us to take in immigrants and you don't. You have a 'I'm alright Jack' feck everyone else attitude. Immigrants are not a threat to our traditions and culture, we still have them, but to say so shows you've swallowed the propaganda of the far right.

While it's hard to know what our dead patriots are thinking I would gamble that most would be happy to see the country as it is now, notwithstanding are various problems.

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

Wow!..are you always this polite with someone whose views you disagree with?laugh

I wasn't throwing a punch at my own, I was that drunk noisy student myself a long time ago, it's part of the growing up process.

There are no 'lies' in anything I've said, there are differences of opinion about whether something is a good idea or a bad idea but everything I've mentioned is factual, the fact that you ignore them doesn't make them any less factual.
I think you are one of those people who prefers to be surrounded by people who are just like you, nothing wrong with that either but that's not the way the world works, not anymore.

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

Our country isn't in a bad state at all. As you and I are about the same age I can't understand how you don't remember the terrible 80's, with huge unemployment and emigration. Now we have full employment and immigration. How many Irish went to America without legal status and stayed there?
It's payback time, that's how it works, when you need help you get it and when you are in a position to give it back you do so. At least that's the honourable thing to do. There are an awful lot of short memories in this country it seems.

No I wouldn't object to any immigrant living in my area, in fact there are many non-Irish where I live and there are no problems. The main problem where I live is noisy, drunk students having parties....needless to say they are Irish.

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

No wind up, Ireland is nowhere near full. The population of the whole island is about the same as London.
Our continued economic expansion wouldn't be possible without more immigration. Our hospitals and hotels couldn't operate without them. Alongside economic immigration we have to take in our fair share of asylum seekers. The government hasn't handled this well. I think it's crazy to put them in the middle of nowhere where they have nothing to do. They should be in urban centres only, where they have access to things like parks and libraries. Officials need to work with communities and listen to their concerns but nobody should have a veto about who moves into their area.

My sister took in a Ukrainian woman last year, that might be what you're thinking of.

RE: When peaceful protests fall on deaf ears

We have a long history of emigration in Ireland, going back centuries, as we could never feed or give employment to all our people. If it wasn't for that we would have been in big trouble. Now that finally we are a rich country it is our turn to help poorer countries in the same way we were helped.
We are probably the least densely populated in Europe and there is plenty of room for more people, people who oppose immigration say that 'Ireland is full', it's nothing like full. I accept that the government hasn't handled the issue well but we have to accept people, if for no other reason that we are members of the EU.

RE: Flying is Fun.

I'd imagine they would give jobs to a disabled person that is within their capability only, something that should be obvious to most people.

RE: Media Manipulation

A schoolteacher once said to me 'snowy, don't be under any illusions'...wink

RE: The banana US.

I think it's much too late for that, he's been making comments bordering on autocracy for a long time now.

RE: Media Manipulation

Every conspiracy theorist's fantasy is that the MSM cannot be trusted. This is necessary if you want to live in a bubble and in a world of make believe where everything you think is correct. The MSM is the greatest protection we have against the flat earthers and their fantasies.

RE: Summing Things Up.

Maybe NATO should have disbanded when the Warsaw Pact ended, as that was the reason for its existence in the first place. If it had maybe the this conflict could have been avoided but I'm not so sure. Russia went from being non aggressive to the rogue state it is now. Much of eastern Europe is pretty glad of western support now that Putin is in their area and a danger to them, we are back in the cold war.

RE: Jeffrey Epstein list

He can, and so can enough Americans to make it likely Trump will win again.

RE: Jeffrey Epstein list

Because he and Trumpists in general want to believe in their hero so much that all the objective evidence in the world won't make them change their minds. It's the 'idea' of Trump that they love rather than the man himself, it's a common thing the world over, this need to have an all conquering hero who stands for the small guy against the various elites that keep them down.
I would have thought that America was too advanced a place for this to happen but I was wrong.
