The banana US.

As much as I learned in school, anyone can run for President as long as they are over 35 and a natural born citizen of the US. It is part of democracy that our forefathers determined made a free country.
Around the world we see how the people don't count and votes don't either. From Kings to Dictators to military rule, leaders are ordered and appointed, not elected.
Putin has a simple answer to a rival..put him in jail in Siberia. Other countries just cause accidents or threats to prevent anyone running against the chosen leader. And his henchmen.
Now we have states saying Trump can't be on the primary ballots. They site some part of number 14 that is about insurgents. It doesn't matter that Trump has not been found guilty of the part they say he played on Jan 6. The judge is judge and jury and states to H with the trial, she says he is guilty.
I see a major break down in our democracy. Putin/Navaly...the libs/Trump.
I guess Trump is lucky that he hasn't fallen out of a window, drank tea or had a plane failure.
Also, I see what the Dems are doing is voter suppression and over turning a free election the same way.
Long ago a man ran for POTUS from his prison cell. I guess back then, we still were a Democracy and not a Banana Republic.very mad doh

Hi, I mainly wish to comment on this part,

Trump has not been found guilty of the part they say he played on Jan 6. The judge is judge and jury and states to....

Is that not what the Two Supreme Court Rulings decided?
I am not from around there, where you are. You probably know the whole story. They (Two Separate State Supreme Courts) did Rule on that and in doing so made him Ineligible because of Their Ruling.)
Yes? No? Or undecided? That's how I saw it. How did you see it?
Obviously not the same way. W.
Also, i wish to comment on this. Look up insurrection in the dictionary. Trump did not win the Democratically held Election, Biden did. Trump just refused to accept what the American majority of People chose. Something similar happened to Dole and he handled it to the letter of the Law.
No one got killed and no damage was ever done with Dole. W.
Firstly, the trial has not been concluded yet. So he is not proven guilty. Second, only the federal government has the right to decide on ballots, not states. The states, mainly the courts are over stepping their rights. 15 other states including mine looked at the idea and nixed it. Not fair elections to say who can or can't be on a ballot. There are strict guidelines that have to do with how much backing a person gets. Starting with signatures to enter.

There should be a cut off point at the other end of the age group. No country for old men springs to mind.

What America needs is stability not two old age pensioners shuffling to be top dog.J.M.O.
Well he was shown to be guilty of being a rapist in civil court. The decades delay in the woman reporting the event contributed greatly to the lack of a criminal trial.

Removing Truump from the ballot is not the same as preventing him from winning the election. Every state allows writing in a candidate. If Trump truly has (very doubtful) the popular vote majority as his own political party claims, well then those supporting him in states where he is not on the ballot will simply write his name (Donald Trump) in the write in block and being the overwhelmingly popular candidate his winning is assured. So I don't understand why his party cares one way or another what names the statee puts on their ballots. All that a voter needs is a pencil to make a correction.
LaRouch said long ago that if a write in gets less than one percent of total votes, discarded. So vote for anyone on ballot. Oh really?mumbling I thought ALL votes are counted. Guess not. And if Trump gets a million write ins, will they count them or discard cause they dont like him.
I agree we need term limits on congress, courts and all government. It used to be a privilege to serve on ones own dime. Now we have career politicians they prop up in a chair and say..now vote this way. Uh.. sleep oh, OK.
I am old myself. Get mad when I can't remember what I was going to say or why I came in here. Where did I put that now!frustrated But, there is a big difference between misplacing my coffee and deciding whether we should go to war! I hope to stay alert and competent til I die. But, I know the limits gets bigger every year. A 90m year old does NOT belong in congress. And a POTUS does not need to be guided off stage or to a door by a foriegn dignitary!doh
Very well said.beer
Roosevelt in a wheelchair then?

Nonetheless it is incredible that America perceives these two as the best available candidates.
You said it in a nutshell Orzzz.

Then again you are not running a country of over 300 million people and dealing with World politics.handshake
Roosevelt was in a Wheelchair because of his Legs, not his Brain!
Good blog.
My2c's:
Putin land is not a democracy and needs to become one before we apply the same
expectations there. So be disappointed about Navalny all you guys want but me I would try a slower more cooperative approach to Putin if he was my rival, cos that stuff over in thet corner of the world needs a joint effort, slow and respectful, not anti war flag waving on a hilltop. In my opinion.

About the banana. Trump still has a misson, and even though I was opposed myself to the idea of him running again (other reasons than his age) he is here and R's decided on him + plus he is still energetic and has good ideas he wants to put into action. He is good for the job all in all (if it wasn't for the sharks circling..)
But that the D's can really double down on Biden to me is ca-razy. Even Jill would be better.

Hi Grandwave

Well his tongue muscles most certainly are energeticgrin

As for his rhetoric at present don't you think he needs to rein it in as some of the comments he's making are bordering on autocracy not democracy..J.M.O.
I think it's much too late for that, he's been making comments bordering on autocracy for a long time now.
But some fool commenter are in the wheelchair because of its BRAIN.rolling on the floor laughing
Spitz, we will never get close in view. That's ok, and I don't intend to cross swords with you too often. Cos why.

In my world he can hardly do no harm.
I need to see the exact quote to have an opinion though.
Basically I trust the man. I think he is a good man and way way better than any enemy TV station is selling him as. Much is twisted. And... if he now and then goes a bit beyond it's usually of a good reason.
THEY BEEN TREATING HIM UNFAIRLY!
The problem here is that the Western democracy is a hoax and it is eye poking already.
Not everyone wants to live like you do.
And it is a human right to choose how to live.
If people mind their own business, the world would be a nicer place.
Putin is man who unites, the good and the bad sides and lead to balance.
One would be very, very naive to think the West isn't depending on the bad guys and their relationship with the politics.
As for Navalny, he's a national security threat. And despite that he is treated quite nicely...still.
This world isn't for faint hearted damzels and romantic knights to rule it.
You need to have a strong hold of the people and be a wise and clear headed leader.
Not a single one in sight on the West side in MO.
@Ten_of_cupss.
I agree on most of that.
My comment was pointed to the Tulefell types who shout "Stop the war" from rooftops,
at the worst time possible.
Me myself have full understanding for Hungarys choice and their rally around V.Orban.
As in Russia, one strongt leader is enough there for now.
There is a time for everything.

Only, I do hope Putin one day will start planning (maybe he already is) for what
Russia should become politcally when he one day has to step down of old age.
Would be a pity of the ruler(s) after Putin f.instance sell Gazprom to Exxon.
