Oh, this is getting better and better! I replied: "Really?? Maybe you should actually look at my profile, you fruitloop!"
I just got his reply, he wants to know how I am doing. I think he was trying Joey Tribbiani's line on me there. Do you think he is a player and I am wasting my time?
I do not get it - what is so wrong with receiving emails? Do you never correspond with other bloggers? Some things are best not said in public, that is when private messages are useful.
Who knows, maybe they got run over by a bus after posting. I have stopped wondering about things like that, it happens all too often. But in the beginning it did bug me, I will admit that.
I did not know that a Pfifferling is called Chanterelle in English until now. I had a pasta dish with chanterelles on Sunday, accompagnied by a salad which also contained chanterelles - that was in fact the best salad I have ever had.
"We all know the kid who comes to visit during the school holidays and don’t seem to eat a thing that is prepared. The one who comes from nothing but when in the company of others, doesn’t eat inexpensive food, only the expensive and exotic is good enough for them."
I have never come across a kid that would not eat because the food is not exotic enough.
"Why does a girl consider she could "hurt my felings" if she simpley turns away? Is it really important for her? This is what I call two-faced. Say one thing, and mean the opposite!"
Okay, init, I can understand you now. Us Germans are blunt, straight-forward and say it how we see it. Most other people are not like that. We Germans are seen as rude because of that, even though we have no intention to be rude - we are simply honest.
Funnily enough, the girl you spoke to had no intention of appearing two-faced either - she simply acted within the parameters of what is accceptable within her society. Obviously, the way she was brought up, it would be rude to tell someone to his face: I do not want to hear from you again. She acted properly from her point of view.
This is what you call cultural differences. My advice: do not argue against them, try to appreciate them instead. You will learn more that way and be happier too.
I stopped when the obsession to control things started to control my life.
It turned out to be rather frustrating and eventually even unhealthy to control the things I could not control, so I gave it up and I have been happy ever since.
A lot of people live like that, they close their eyes firmly and believe what they want to believe, because it makes them happier than reality.
Should you be one of them and it makes you happier that way, don't beat yourself up about it. Just be prepared that your make-believe world might collapse one day.
It is like metamorphosis - a gradual process, a steady development. I am sure that caterpillar does not think about turning into a butterfly, it just happens. But of course you are right too - if it is freezing cold, it will die before emerging all changed.
So maybe the question should be: what are the things that can mess up a budding relationship?
(but please do not make me answer that, I am getting tired here)
I am so happy!
