yes indeed Non . some of the people / families my daddy has had to help over the last 20years , their stories very very distressing - he was telling me at the weekend , they have had alot of urgent calls these last 3 weeks from people requesting heating oil and coal --so he has been very busy organising fuel deliveries for these families --but he is anxious , because all the money that was raised before christmas has nearly gone now , and it's only January yet !
Thankyou Non and yes , my dad sure is a very kind man who dedicates much of his time to those in most need --i adore him and respect his genuine goodness again ,well done again on your wonderful blog --it is good to read a blog like this , that can make people stop and think
Wow Non ,, a very impressive read --humble , yet heartfelt --and a blog that will give many of us " food " for thought ( excuse the pun). And i agree totally , that the definition of poverty , xtends way beyond lack of food and housing. Your mother sounds like a truly wonderful lady --one of those rare people in this world , who genuinely give without expecting anything in return . She deserves much respect . My Dad is president of his conference of St Vincent De Paul , and has been involved with them since we were children . Many a collection day or fundraiser , my sisters and i would have helped him out with over the years . There is such outright poverty still in this country ( even through the boom years ), a poverty which has extended greatly due to our deep recession --calls for help have risen sharply and they ,as well as Simon Community struggle to meet huge demands on their resources . It is up to each one of us to help in any way we possibly can --even the smallest gesture of kindness to another human being can mean such alot . A beautifully written Blog Non
yes indeed i do know about your santa visits to the hospital Teddy , and i truly admire you --that is a wonderful thing to do and yes , there is certainly much truth to the second part of your comment
i can see , and i respect your point of view Teddy --but i have to deal with , and treat cancer suffers every day --i try my hardest to ease their suffering in every possible way i can --as well a be of some help to their families too . when a person is dealing with this situation , facing it together with my patients and their loved ones , the urgent need for some hope of a cure is very heartfelt
yes indeed Teddy , there are hidden agendas certainly , but god , i wish they could just get to the root cause of it --and rid this terrible suffering from people world wide
@Zee --one can never have enough heat from whatever quarter it comes from
@Teddy , i totally agree even after many many years of research carried out , there is still so much unknown about this --sometimes , i just feel it's very easy to put the blame on smoking when there could be other equally valid reasons --i would hazard to say , it is going to be a long time before scientists know exactly the causes there seems to be concentration on researching various treatments , rather than causes
this is a tough one -- for me who works in the medical profession --i have seen first hand many thousands of cancer cases over the years -- some of these patients did indeed smoke --however a large number did not smoke and still sadly have been diagnosed with this awful illness . it sure is a mystery
@Simmo --no need to be nervous :-) i'm glad you love yourself dear man as the saying goes ,, you have to love yourself , before you can truly love others ! :-) but i'm happy that you can spare just a little bit of love for me too
Teddy , we've had -5 -6 these last 3 days and quite abit of snow fall --that kinda cold gets into your bones lol so i can sympathsise with you--indeed roll on summer !
good !! glad to hear you're abit chilly tonight ! i deliberately sent some of our snow and artic air over to you --after your " moving my sun lounger " comment to me the other day sharing is caring
Good man Teddy i'm glad to hear you're relaxing now --you worked 10 hours today --i worked 9 hours --i have a 10 hour shift to work on saturday --but as long as we get a good balance between work and rest --that's the secret
Hi Teddy , and hello everyone hows everyone this evening ? Teddy , you will give them up only when the time is right for you --when you do decide , you will have plenty on hand here to support you and give you loads of encouragement
Everyone is a bit different in this respect Teddy -- so people fallin love quite quickly --some it takes quite a bit longer - but as you say , when you know , you know --there is no mistaking real love --it is all consuming
